Work Text:
The dry dessert air filled Emily's lungs as she took a deep breath after stepping out of Sandy's van. They were at the edge of the music festival, and already the sound of bands practicing and singing surrounded them.
“What should we do first?” She asked Sandy.
“Visit the bathroom, and then find where the ‘Crystal Maid’s’ are performing,”
“I’ll go find the band. See ya!” Emily weaved her way through the crowd, stopping now and then to listen to the music. Then she heard the Crystal Maid’s signature instrument, wind chimes, made her way towards it. Only one of the band members was on stage, but someone had already beaten her to being the first fan there.
It was a guy with blond hair and stubble, wearing a pretty tie-dye shirt. Along his arms were dozens of bracelets made out of crystals. He looked over at her and smiled.
“I’m Ben,”
“I’m Emily. I love your bracelets,”
“Thanks. Here.” He took off one of them and slid it over her hand. “They match your outfit,”
“Thank you! Are these lapis and garnet?” She asked as she brought it closer to her eyes.
“Yeah, you must really know your rocks,”
“I collect them! Their magical properties help me connect to the dream world,” She waited for him to laugh like most people did when she told them that, but instead his smile grew wider.
“You can really connect to the dream world? I’ve never been able to do that,”
“I don’t have all my crystals, but I can try to teach you how to do it,”
“I have plenty of crystals in my caravan. Want to come over tonight to see if any will work,”
“That sounds fun!”
