Chapter Text

Harry was sitting in Headmaster Dumbledore’s office, as Madame Pomfrey stood in front of him, swishing her wand and he soon winced as he felt his dorsum repair itself.

Draco sat across him, his entire mood a pinnacle of reservation and sophistication. Madame Pomfrey had just fixed his black eye, and his face was back to its perfect, smooth, pale self.

Wait, let’s rewind.

Draco and Harry had gotten themselves into a scuffle again, for the 5th time that week and it was Tuesday. All of their friends were sick of them and their antics.

They could hear Dumbledore, Professor McGonagall and Professor Snape arguing in the other room, something about how Harry deserved to get expelled, and McGonagall fighting back with how Harry wasn’t a piece of meat he could boss around.

After what seemed like ages of having to sit with Draco in a room, which he felt deigned to do anyways, they were finally called in.

— — —

“Well, Mr. Potter-“ she turned to Harry, “-Mr. Malfoy-“, she turned to Draco, “-we have decided that as a final resort to stop your fighting and to promote house unity, we will be rooming different houses together. This will be put into action immediately, and we will inform the other students at dinner. You two are to be housed together. This is as lenient as we can possibly be.”

“But, Professor, it was completely his fault!”

Harry cried.

“All the others shouldn’t have to be dragged into this, and I refuse to spend even a minute with this absolute clown. Please, Professor.”

He requested earnestly. “

And this can’t be the most lenient option.”

“No buts, Mr. Potter, I do not hear Mr. Malfoy complaining. This will be a great opportunity for the houses to find acquaintanceship with others outside their circles.”

Draco was pretty sure he’d tuned out all of that conversation. It was only when Harry shook him by the shoulder (way too hard for that matter) that he came back to the land of the living.

“Don’t touch me, Potter.”

Draco brushed himself off with his hands, making a grand act out of it.

“Did you hear anything that Professor just said? Go pack your bags, you swot!”

Harry turned Draco around and pushed him, sending him tumbling towards the door.

— — —

“Why are your clothes on my bed, Potter?”

Draco said with his usual tone of snarkiness (Harry was sure that it was his default tone), and swept his eyes over Ron and Blaise making their beds. It was already horrible having to room with Harry and now, he had to room with the Weasel. Atleast he had his bestfriend to accompany him throughout it, although Pansy would probably strangle him and kill him before resuscitating him and then do it again if she heard that.

Draco didn’t really feel bad for Pansy, though. She was with Hermione, and Draco had discovered she was one of the more tolerable people from the golden trio, and he enjoyed being near her. She was smart, and not scared to put him in his place and Draco felt like it was a fresh breath of air. He was sure the two would get along fine together.

What Draco was worried about, was the fact that Potter’s stinky socks and flannel were on his bed.

“Potter, get your ugly clothes off my bed!”

He yelled, jolting Ron, who was on the verge of falling asleep, awake.

“Stop shouting in my ear, Malfoy. I’m already blind, and I’m not ready to become deaf, especially because of you.”

Harry remarked before picking his items of clothing up.

He threw them astray, under his bed. He pulled off his shirt and bent down to grab his pajamas, and Draco couldn’t help but stare.

“What’s got you gawking there, Draco dearest?”

“Zip it, Zabini.”

He might hate him and everything, but Harry Potter had a set of damn fine muscles, Draco thought and then immediately mentally kicked himself because of it.

— — —

Draco emerged from the washroom sporting his set of silk, forest green pajamas, walked without sparing anyone a glance, and he slipped into his four poster bed.

“Good night, Malfoy”, Draco heard Harry say from his place in the room.

“I hope an acromantula appears in your dreams”, Draco retorted.

“Now, why would you say that?”, whined Ron from the other corner of the room, smacking his head into a pillow.

                                              ── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──

Harry blinked once, and then twice, before pushing himself up and sitting in bed.

He saw that Malfoy was out of bed, and it couldn’t have been hardly 5 or 6 in the morning. He could hear the shower running, something falling and Draco letting out an unmanly shout. Harry chuckled to himself before grabbing the glass of water on his nightstand and downing it one go.

Draco came out of the washroom, dressed in his school robes, not one thing out of place.

He turned to the full body mirror, looked up and was going to fix his (already perfect) hair when he saw Harry’s reflection staring at him and yelped.

“What the fuck, Potter?!”

“What are you doing up so early?”

“It’s none of your business.”

Draco waited for a few moments, maybe to build up suspense, maybe to reconsider his life choices.

“I’m going to meet Pansy in the library before breakfast. I suggest you wake up now too, because by the way the Weasel is sleeping, it’s going to take you ample time to wake him up.”

He said before walking to the door in 3 long strides and leaving the room, leaving an astounded Harry and 2 sleeping boys.

— — —

Harry stepped into the great hall, looked at the Gryffindor table and tried to locate his friends, and I say tried, because while he was standing there, somebody bumped into him, throwing him off balance and in the blink of an eye, he was on top of the person who pushed him. That person turned out to be Draco Malfoy.

Draco’s face had become all red, which was a stark contrast to the rest of his pale skin, and Harry found himself overjoyed because now he knew he could bring THE Draco Malfoy to a blushing mess.

“Get your nasty, burly ass away from me before I transfigure you into a rat, although there isn’t much to be transfigured.”

Draco said, before pushing Harry aside which led him to fall to the side, getting up and heading back to where his friends were, snickering.

Harry was left there on the floor, once again, in shock, as Hermione and Ron came to pick him up.

— — —

“No, Pansy, you don’t get it, if I have to sleep in the same room as them again, I’m actually going to use an unforgivable on them!”

Draco said in exasperation.

“Then don’t, go sleep on the roof or something, Malfoy.”

Remarked Harry who was walking by with his friends.

“Maybe I will.”

“Fine.”

Fine.”

“Fine.”

Fine!”

“Fine!”

Then Harry walked away.

“See what I have to deal with, Pans?”

“Well, if I had a man who looks like a sex symbol teasing me, and practically flirting with me everyday, I would be pretty happy.”

“I hate all my friends.”

“No, you don’t.”

And then Pansy enveloped Draco in a Bear hug while he desperately tried to fight her off.
