Work Text:
2026
The credits rolled and soon the scene of the boys enjoying their tower of sausages (with no Sumino present) faded away to an ad.
Her cheeks were moist, tears falling before she even realised and there 20 year old Kaho sat, wondering what she was going to do next now without the heroes she admired cheering her on every week
Go on being an Idol? When her multi-coloured unit was very much inspired by the Heroes who inspired HER growing up? Somehow Kaho sensed her every future performance would not be that much more difficult.
10 years, 10 years, she pondered on the meaning of the words. What she read in that interview, and it was then that an idea came to her mind. An idea that quickly took hold in her mind hardening into a firm resolve.
“I have decided” Kaho declared, her voice shaky but determined as she wiped away her tears.
“I will bring back Super Sentai. I will bring be the one to bring them back!”

2036
"Super Sentai? Sentai? Didn't we cancel that back in 2026 for a reason?"
"I'm sorry but this won't work"
"If you want to bring back Super Sentai, you're gonna have to do better than this."
Kaho’s hands curled into her fist, her thoughts still filled with the minutes her ill-fated meeting at Toei.
It had not gone as expected.
In fact, she was practically laughed out of that room.
What did they know? She thought. Those crusty old men who did not know or see the appeal of Heroes.
And yet, there was a nagging feeling. That her pitch, however beautiful it was- was missing something. Something special.
What if, she thought, they were right. What if she was just bringing back Super Sentai just to send it back to the grave?
“Ugh, I can’t think like this. I need a dri—where am I?”
She looked around and knew that she was no longer in the streets of Tokyo. For what she saw was, best described, as a Quiltmaker’s nightmare. She stood upon a giant mattress. Surrounding her were Hats and Mats and Heads of Rabbits swayed and bobbled upon giant needles like strange, peculiar trees dotted amongst. And she stood alone but for the odd looking creatures resembling a cross between a shopping cart and tinsels floating about.
“Weird place” she thought, surprised but unperturbed.
She started walking, pass those strange trees and pass the “shopping carts,” all of whom ignored her in favor of floating in the other direction.
But no matter where she walked she seem to end up in the same place, at the same point.
“Ugh, this is useless. How do I...that’s a big”
Kaho looked down and saw something new, something she hadn’t seen before. A looming rabbit-shaped shadow now loomed above larger- far, far larger than any of the trees she passed. She turned around and that was when she saw it. A large pink rabbit fluffy and adorn in a strange dress, not unlike something that rabbit her senpai 765 carried around constantly.
But this rabbit was alive. And it was looking down at her menacingly with those beady, black eyes.
Kaho watched with trepidation as it raised it’s arms high. Without hesitating she ran barely manage to avoid the blow. Yet she still felt it, the vibration on the floor and the loud, sickeningly loud sound that made as the fist hit the ground.
“If that had landed on me…”
Kaho ran, she ran as fast as she could. And yet the Pink Bunny kept following and every time it got close bought it’s fist down. Missing by a metre and sometimes mms.
And no matter how far she ran, or how fast Kaho could not find her exit and she felt her stamina draining. She was running out of breath, she was running out of energy.
Soon there was no-where to hide.
And looming over her was a 20 foot tall rabbit with a raised fist.
On her rear, frozen in fear, exhausted and covered in sweat. Kaho thought of her parents. She thought of Natsuha and the rest of Hokura, and muttered a silent sorry.
But worst of all was knowing that she would not be able to keep her promise.
She would not revive Super Sentai.
This. Was the End.
She closed her eyes and prepared for the final blow.
*POW*
What?
The floor shook as Kaho opened her eyes and she saw that the Monstrous Rabbit staggering backwards as if trying to regain it’s balance. And she turned her head she saw her mysterious saviour. The young girl, the same age as her, golden-haired and clad in a red suit decorated with lines of yellow. Nervous yet ready, her leg glowing with power.
“A Real Hero…” Kaho muttered.
But her admiration could not last for soon she felt the floor shake and she heard the terrible steps, a furious rush like a stampede of elephants. She knew what it was. The pink rabbit rushing towards them, infuriated.
“Watch ou---”
“You don’t need to worry” the Golden haired girl declared and in an instant Kaho saw her face change. The nervous girl was gone, replaced by a look of steely resolve. “This is my final technique. FOR THE ENDING OF THIS STORY IS FOR ME TO DECIDE! CITRON BEAM!”
And the Golden-Haired Heroine leapt upwards with a burst of power, and quickly somersaulted into position- extending her right foot toward’s the Rabbit’s face. Then with a burst of energy she flew like a missile into her foe, her heel slammed straight into the bunny-like monster before pushing backwards and blasting it with a beam of yellow from her belt. A shine so brilliant that Kaho was almost blinded by the light.
And then, just like that. It was over. The rabbit staggered backwards, it disappeared, the maze around her dissipated. Kaho was stunned. She was back in Tokyo with it’s concrete streets and glass buildings.
She looked at her golden-haired saviour again, her gaze lingering. She never imagined the Superhero Time Heroes could be real but there she was, flesh and bone, like a Red Senshi straight out of the Super Sentai she grew up with.
Red Senshi…
Ahhh.
A lightbulb went off in Kaho’s head. THIS was it.
“E-excuse me!” Kaho yelled out, trying to contain her excitement. “What’s your name?”
“Eh, um…” Her saviour stammered “Hotori. Hotori Yuzuki”
Standing up, dusting off the dust off her dress, Kaho tried to make herself presentable.
“HOTORIN!” Kaho yelled enthusiastically. So loud her Hotori recoiled in surprise. “Help me revive Super Sentai!”
“Eh?
EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

The rave reviews of the first episode and the buzz online simply filled Kaho with joy. The critics were effusive with praise of both her and Hotorin. A FEMALE Red Senshi? LEADING a Revival Series? The Crusty Old Men had thought her mad but it turned out to be that magical ingredient they needed, along with much, much more physical finishers suited for Hotori’s fighting style. The kind of physicality and brawling you would not normally expect for a girl of Hotori’s stature. And Hotori had enthusiastically discussed with her suit actor and writers just what kind of punches she wanted to show on screen.
But Kaho knew she couldn’t rest on her laurels just yet. She still had 48 episodes to write, and already had an arc planned. Red Senshi’s Evil Twin (played by Hotorin’s actual twin sister. Bit bossy but like Fuyuko, actually a nice person once you knew her) who would eventually be redeemed by her love for her sister, and take her place alongside the team as the Secondary Red Senshi and Lancer.
Still she allowed this moment of happiness to linger.
For Super Sentai was back.
