Chapter Text
June 30th, 2012.
8:25 AM.
It had been a long while, or-- it felt that way to him, at least. It had felt like an eternity! Like 2763 YEARS! Yet in reality, it had merely been 3-4 months since that voting video released, and a little over 2 months since voting ended. But oh bakery, he was just so nervous! Why wasn't he the normally content pastry?! Maybe he should've worn a little something? Like a bow tie! No...too fancy and formal. Okay, calm down. It's JUST a competition, Donut.
..A competition to win an oh-so desirable island with many luxurious features. Like a highly-rated hotel, a casino (that probably he wouldn't even use, but the idea was nice!), robot servants-- oh! CAN'T forget he could chose whether someone was let in the island along with him or not. That HAD to have been the best part. Just imagine; the dream island everyone was looking for! You won the island!! Everyone else was allowed in, except for that ONE person you just couldn't tolerate. Ohoho, that would be SO satisfying! But oh holy bakers above, this was getting irritating, when were the results--
"OUCH!"
Donut heard someone whisper-shout in pain, only to figure out that was HIM. It seems he had been subconsciously digging his fingers into his palm as a way to cope with the stress. It left a small mark, fading rather quickly. Had he really been that nervous?? To the point where he was fidgeting? Okay, get yourself together, Donut! You'll be fine.
Donut saw TV powering up from the corner of his eye, immediately jumping up. "Oh my bakery.." He muttered under his breath, controlling his shuffling hands. One by one, the contestants who failed to join (due to a lack of votes) were revealed. And he...wasn't on that list.
Wait a second--
Unfolding the results of the OFFICAL contestants, he was the 19th to join. The 19th. If he had gotten 21st, he'd been a failed debut. How he was so relieved!! And kind of excited! He was in the game!!
That excitment was quickly drowned out by the shock of the failed debuts being flung into the TLC. Donut felt a little sympathetic, but soon forgot about the TLC all together when he heard a voice exclaim "I think one team should have the ORIGINAL contestants, and the other should have the NEWBIES!"
Donut could only assume they were talking about splitting into teams, spotting the fellow modish contestants. But he paused. Hey...the team with the oldies was WAY bigger than the NEWBIES! That would give them an unfair advantage. The baked sweet HAD to speak up. "H-Hey! Our team's smaller than the other one.." Donut uttered out as he pointed towards the enemy team, a bit louder than he meant to. Donut caught a roll of the eyes from a pencil he wasn't familiar with. "So? Sometimes you just have to deal with it."
Donut paused. That..that made him pretty damn irritated! It showed in his expression, but the wooden object didn't seem to care. "Wh--..what?" Donut questioned, his hands resting on his hips. The unknown sighed. "I SAID, “Sometimes you just have to deal with it”!"
Donut suddenly felt a pang of aggravation. Bakery, was he always so short tempered? Well, either way.. "Well, sometimes you just have to deal with getting SLAPPED!!" The ring of dough yelled out as he walked up to them and gave em a good ol' SLAP! The now-sassy orange object, which who he assumed was Pencil, grumbled. "Well, sometimes you just have to deal with getting STABBED!!" Pencil uttered, stabbing the top of Donut with her sharpened led. OUCH!!! That really hurt. But that only made Donut even more enraged, yet he said in a nonchalant manner..
"Well, sometimes you just have to deal with being set ablaze." Donut threw Firey at Pencil, who lit aflame. "Sometimes maybe you should just CALM DOWN!" The ball of fire voiced, a tad concerned that Pencil was literally on FIRE at the moment! "Sometimes, maybe Firey is right!" The writing utensil added, also not fond of being in flames at the moment.
"Sometimes maybe Firey is WRONG!" Donut protested in a slightly mocking demeanour, jumping back after a ball of fluff flew through his mouth-hole. She spoke in a surprisingly interesting voice. It was...autotuned? "Sometimes, maybe if one player switches teams, they'll be equal!"
"Sometimes, maybe it won't be me!" Donut wanted to give Pencil another slap, but refrained. What is WRONG with you today, Donut?! You're never like this..
"We'll choose, uhm--" A red crystal started off, trying to think...it was clear she was having trouble deciding, though. Donut decided to help her out and choose a random! Stepping in front of Ruby, he declared "We'll choose Match." Donut received a gasp from Match and Pencil, with Pencil somehow consuming the fire that has lit her aflame in the process.
As both him and Ruby grabbed Match and led her to the other team, the match caught back a little. "But Pencil and I have to stick together!" Donut felt a little bad, but told himself no. The teams had to be equal. "You'll pay for that, Donut!" Pencil started, before blowing the fire she had consumed at him. Donut was caught off guard, flinching as the fire hit Book instead, who burst into flames. He felt the need that help her, but didn't quite know how to. It's not like there was a bucket of water anywhere! But hey, at least there was a recovery center.
Stuck in his thoughts again, he heard that players could switch teams if they wanted, to which Match happily exclaimed "OMG, I'm, like, going back then!" as she ran over to Pencil. But, one by one, multiple contestants from his group switched to the enemy team, until it was just him left. Okay, this was so uncool! Pencil and the pastry simply glared at each other. Donut was starting to really hate that pencil.
Pencil interrupted their glare contest with a "Wait, I like my screen like this!" The utensil chirped, morphing the screen into one that would look a shape similar to a phone screen, Match agreeing with her, followed by the two giving a high five. Fries followed, showing his preferred screen shape. Single by single yet again, the contestants showed their preferences! Donut didn't know how this was relevant, but he eventually joined in, his unintentionally shaped like the announcer. He waited for everyone to just be done, so they could focus on the situation at hand.
Donut heard an "I-I'm switching teams!" from Coiny, making a beeline until he was standing next to the cherry-filled shape of dough. He was just glad ONE person was willing to switch. "Why don't you switch too?" Pin received from Coiny, Donut quickly agreeing. "Yeah, Pin..you..REALLY..need to switch." He hesitated, trying to reason. "Geh-uh-- You would not BELIEVE..how much..YOU need to switch. I highly recommend that you switch, j-just go switch-!"
"Yeah, Pin, you should switch!" Donut heard Nickel peep, a smile plastered on the five-cent-coin's face. Pin seemed a tad offended. "What?! Are you trying to exclude me-?" Pin begun, cut off by the crowd repeating the words "Switch, switch, switch!" The pointy red object blurted out "Okay, okay, I switched-!" Waving her hands in defense, she ended up beside the two. A "Finally!" escaped Fries.
Donut watched as the contest wheel was spun, landing on "Tug of War." Oh, this wasn't-- well, Donut couldn't complain once more, he supposed..
The pastry watched the timer, and the next thing he knew, they were 3 to 19. The three on his team tugged and tugged the best they could, but it was no surprised to him when THEY were the ones falling down the cliff. What DID slightly surprise him is that they landed on one pillar each. A big yellow light-up sign flashed gently with the word "VOTE"...OHHH!! He got it now. They were up for elimination! Again, not much of a surprise to him, yet it was still disappointing.
"Did we lose?" Donut internally deadpanned, mentally agreeing when Pin answered with "Yeah. We lost." Coiny confidently replied with "We should have won."
"I agree." Were they actually serious?? Donut couldn't believe what he was hearing! Did they really think they could've won?! It was THREE TO NINETEEN!! Sigh..it was okay. Maybe this was just a bad day for the pastry! "DO NOT comment to vote!" Donut began, speaking to the viewers. "Instead, rate these videos." He just hoped he would be safe, and that this game would get less stressful later on. He was sure it'd get better!
