Chapter 1: You're suppose to act like an enemy!

Chapter Text

Mymy was always the competitive type.

She enjoys stomping out the miserable cries of her enemies as she stood tall and proud as her self-proclaimed win washed over her. She’d never let anyone taint her perfect, or she says, dutch reputation. Loud, proud, and whatever other word that rhymes with the other two is her go to Strat for winning. She’d deny any sort of mistake she’s done, excusing it as a cover-up done by the Belgiums. Taint anyone else’s reputation with any petty lie she’d think of, hang up posters promoting propaganda.

Anything.

But, why did her strategy falter when she first gazed into those annoyingly blue orbs?

‘’Peace’’ she uttered, her voice bouncing off the walls in the classroom. Similar to a speaker echoing off the walls of a train station, solemn but spoken with an undertone of importance.

Mymy’s eyes burned a hole into the symbol on her helmet. Her two silky, blonde bangs bouncing with every subtle movement she made with two curls punctuating the end of her hair. Yada, was it? Her brain could hardly focus, it was rattling like a penny in a tin can as she could only make out the moving lips of her teacher talking.

Yana’s annoyingly blank face and her cold stare, looking at her audience and staring her down specifically for a few seconds. Was It to intimidate her? To scare her? Make her shiver with the fear of uncertainty? Her moment of distant madness came to the end as she heard the words ‘’Running for class representative.’’ come out of Yana’s mouth.

Class representative? The class representative she was running for? Being put up against the new kid? She thought she could waltz into this school, casually state that, and walk out like it was nothing? It didn’t help that her thoughts were every so interrupted by her classmates cheering for every word Yana uttered like pigs oinking for slop.

Her anger reached a tipping point, she didn’t even notice people were leaving as the bell dismissed class. Her shoulders sunk as she dragged her hands down her face, a sense of comfort knowing she was the only one of control of herself. Reassuring herself that she could win, it would just take more propaganda and blackmail than usual. That was the Dutch way after all. She felt a sense of nationalism until she felt an unfamiliar hand placed on her shoulder. Cold and uninviting.

She assumed, at first, it was Coco. She had the habit of sneaking up on her sometimes, reminding her about the occasional quiz or two. Twirling her hair and pulling it back which caused an uncomfortable pinching sensation before skipping away in a pattern of perfection.

Yet, this hand was different. It pressed down on her shoulder, the pressure making it slightly droop down. Like a sense of urgency, it made her breath hitch. With hesitation, she craned her head to look behind her, regretting every single decision that led up to this moment the minute she realized.

Yana’s smile burned into her eyes, her eyes were scrunched up, continuing to rub circles around Mymy’s shoulder like she was comforting her. Sickly sweet, did she really think she was doing good here? Comforting her like she couldn’t care for herself? Was this a silent gesture of disdain disguised as a sign of worry? She saw right past her smile, her facade, she knew what she was doing.

Mymy swatted her hand away, Yana reeled her hand back, her teeth gritting in hurt as she soothed her hand by rubbing it in circular rhythm. Her smile quickly molding into a slight frown.

‘’What do you think you’re doing?’’ Mymy hissed, her teeth gritted as her nose scrunched up in a form of utter disgust.

‘’Ah, I saw you with a frown and I got worried, yes? I am sorry if I disturbed you. My name is Yana, I should introduce myself to you personally. Yours?’’

Mymy was stunned for a solid second, her frown faltering for a moment as she processed this sentence. She expected an insult, a response laced with disdain even. Yet, she got something that hurt worse than either of those options, a response laced with concern. She tried looking past it, this had to be a fake-out right? She’d retaliate with an insult right after to make it hurt and make her regret even thinking that she was actually concerned for her. But she saw nothing but a pair of eyes that held a genuine curiosity.

Sick.

Worse than anything she could’ve imagined

Mymy stared stupidly for a second before her face scrunched up again, a scowl taking form.

‘’I don’t need your help. A true Dutch doesn’t need to rely on anyone. You’re a pathetic excuse of a Dutch to… to ever dutch!’’

Mymy stood up, the chair screeching against the marble flooring before storming out the classroom.

Romance was a really complicated subject for Mymy to grasp. Sure, she could yell and declare all the Dutch rights she wanted, but that really isn’t the way to win a persons heart. Winning a persons heart is a terribly complicated solution. Not complicated in the way like any history lessons, that would be easy in Mymy’s case, but one that doesn’t have a distinct answer.

Morphed and shaped by any hand that holds it, it differs like a crisp maple leaf in the fall. Uncertainty approaching as you suspend your foot above the leaf, crunchy or soft. One outcome more desirable than the other. Fortunately for Mymy she didn’t care for the subject much anyways.

Yet, she would’ve looked more into it if it meant she could avoid the warm gaze that stared across from her from the hallway.

Her distinct curved nose and soft downturned eyes were recognizable from miles away, Mymy didn’t want to think about the implications on why she had her features carved into her mind. Yana had a warm smile, a smile too big for her face. It made her cheeks scrunch up, an awkward squish of her facial features.

She was waving, it wasn’t too noticeable. A light motion of the top of her fingers bobbing up and down. An action so small but it made it made Mymy’s face burn bright red to the tips of her ears.

Mymy walked right pass her, not paying a single glance.
