There is a rock candy statue that sits in the gardens of Castle Candy.
It is of a pop rock man. He stands tall; his sword between his hands and his gaze stony. He is immortal as long as this statue stands.
As long as there are people who remember him, he will always live.
She sometimes visits the castle just to look at it. To pray to something, somewhere, that her father is watching over her.
Now that he’s gone, there’s nothing left of her family. Mom passed a few years ago; Saccharina was sweet, but she never really thought of her as a sister. So she was all that was left of house Rocks.
What a sad thing. Outliving both parents and your only real sister. It still fills her eyes with tears and shakes her body with sobs some nights.
But she will persist. She is older now than when Jet died; she can handle the pain of her heart ripping in two. Even if it now fractures into a piece for each one gone, she still goes on.
The statue is beautiful. It is well maintained by the one who now resides in the throne room. He shines as he did when he lived, or so she thinks. Everything is clearer in hindsight, and everything is more beautiful when you want it back.
She reads the plaque which adorns the base of the statue; the words seem to be engraved in her mind as much as they are in the metal.
