The Case of the Future Polaroid

Summary:

had to write a 99-word fanfic for a creative writing class and decided to post it bc why not. the prompt i chose was “ You find a Polaroid camera that shows what will happen 5 minutes in the future. The first picture you take is of your own shocked face.”
not one of my finest works but felt like sharing it.

Work Text:

Crystal held the polaroid between two fingers. Niko's blurry face smeared across the frame, her mouth agape and eyes wide. "How much longer do we have?"
"Less than a minute," Niko replied wearily. Her eyes darted around the office. "What do you think is going to happen?" She moved closer to her friend's side. "What if it's a ghost?"
Crystal moved closer too, taking a defensive stance. "Then we'll see it coming."
"Mail call!" A loud, harsh voice belted from behind. Niko yelped as she spun around.
Crystal sighed, pinching her nose. "And it's just the Postman. Of course."
