Chapter Text
As Amelie neatly packed away her books for home into her bag, Denise was collecting her own books to bring to after school study. "I'm so tired, I can't wait to go home." Denise sighs. Amelie attacks her with a hug. "I hope after school study goes quick for you." She smiles. Denise hugs her back. "Yah, I'll probably draw for a while after I finish studying."
Amelie steps back from the hug and picks her school bag up from the ground. "I'll see you tomorrow, rizzy buddy." She waves. Denise's grin morphs into her classic freaky emote. Amelie side-eyes back, before mirroring Denise's emote with enthusiasm.
As Amelie skips out the door, Denise swings her bag over her shoulder. She walks over to the library, where after school study is held, and she takes a seat. Placing her books on the table, she begins to study.
Amelie reaches her bedroom. At last- free from school. She throws her bag on the floor, which is soon followed by her heavy outerlayers. She lies on the bed, her iPad and Apple Pencil in hand. As she starts to draw, she cracks open a can of coke from her drawer. Despite the sugary contents of the drink, it doesn't really help her feel more energised. She begins a drawing- a sketch of her self-insert oc, RK114, and Connor.
Denise lets out an exhausted sigh. She's finally finished her study and homework. She takes out her earbud, which has started playing country music. It's not helping her headache which started only a couple minutes into hitting the books. She sits for a while, blank stare, before rubbing her eyes and reaching for her notebook that she uses for drawings.
Using her pen, she starts to draw herself and Hank. Shes smiles as the drawing begins to take shape. She rests her head with one hand, and continues to draw with the other. She begins to realise how tired she is as she starts to reach the end of her drawing...
Amelie yawns. Her eyelids are heavy, and growing heavier by the second. She feels the weight of her body struggle against her as she attempts to finish the drawing. She adds the final layer of solid colour, set to overlay to make the the entire piece more cohesive. She smiles, happy with the results, before collapsing on her side. She finally gives in to her exhaustion, letting her entire being drift asleep...
But as soon as she's asleep, she's awake again. Even with her eyelids closed, she immediately notices how much brighter her room is. Instead of the natural light of the warm sun, its a bright white enveloping her eyes. Another immediate sensation is the coldness on her entire body. She is laying on her back, and her bed feels metallic and unwelcoming.
After a few seconds of confusion from waking up, she groggily peels her eyes open. Staring at the celing, the roof is pure white and shows no traces of the posters or windows above her bed that she normally sees. She goes to sit up, but is suddenly made very aware of the pressure of cold restraints around her wrists. Her breathing stutters, and she lifts her head up to get a better look at the room.
It's cold, sterile and very white. There are florescent lights above, which make a faint buzzing. Normally, that's a sound in which she finds comfort in, but it's imposible to feel comfortable in this situation. She is on a metal table in an unfamiliar place, she's constrained, and there are even a few people in the room with long white labcoats.
Denise closes her eyes delicately as she finished her drawing. She doesn't even mean sleep, she just wants to rest her tired eyes. Then she keeps them closed for just a little while longer than intended... and a little more... and-
Her senses are suddenly overwhelmed. She feels the slight breeze on her skin. She hears vehicles driving and cars honking. Of course her eyes are jolted open. She finds herself sitting on the floor. Specifically a footpath, in which people are walking around her. She stands up, her knees feeling weak from the surge of overwhelming confusion.
The place seems somewhat familiar. There's a train station very close by, with a sign reading "Ferndale". There's grafiti and plants and benches and so, so many people. It certainly doesn't feel like anywhere nearby, not even anywhere in Ireland! She tries to calm herself, then is taken by suprise when she sees a.... an android charging station?
