Work Text:
It’s insatiably dark in here. The cool press of metal against my skin has my breathing shallow and stressed. Claustrophobia claws at my throat as I panic and feel the small, circular confines around me. A screen above me flickers on, filling the small, cylindrical room with a vibrant green glow.
Welcome, Red.
The screen glows with my name ominously. Sweat beads on my skin as the air in my lungs seems to constrict suffocatingly tight.
Start.
Light spills into the claustrophobic cylinder as an automatic door slides open.
Thump,
Thump,
Thump,
Thump.
My feet hit the ground the second I can escape my metal prison. The earthy smell of the forest assaults my senses as my boots sink into moist forest ground.
It’s a maze.
I know it’s a maze.
All I’ve got to do is RUN.
