Work Text:
Kaito and Miku headed straight to the surface. Their mouth coughed the water from their lungs, body trembling from the exhaustion. and teeth chattering from the sheer coldness. Swimming back to the surface was not an easy task for the young pair.
The coldness was a given, considering Miku only wore a black short dress that wasn't suited to explore the deep sea. However, the warmth on the coat that's currently lent on Miku's body helped her a little. Kaito willingly gave it to her—saying she needs it more than him.
They sat side by side. They should've left this shore long ago, but they both show no signs of wanting to leave yet. It was pretty much awkward, her boyfriend basically just saved her life. Miku felt like she should've said something, but all it came out was a whisper.
"… Kaito, you can come here."
Miku half-opened her coat, not that it's hers or something.
Kaito's mouth gaped open, but he retreated to a boyish grin. "Thank you. You're always kind to me."
Even when Miku clearly needed help, she always placed someone else's care on top of her first.
Kaito went closer to Miku with a single shift. With the small room the coat gave them, their shoulders touched. Miku nuzzled her head on Kaitos' shoulder and clutched on his arm for additional warmth. Kaito returned the affection by laying his cheek on top of her head.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Kaito asked.
Miku exhaled, her hands unconsciously gripped Kaito's arm tight, "… Not yet."
Her voice was faint, her answer was still the same like before, but Kaito didn't mind that. As long as she's still here—together with him, he was filled with gratitude. Kaito knew that Miku hadn't been honest with her feelings after they dated, but he patiently waited—pushing her was the least thing he wanted to do.
"Kaito?" Miku called.
"Yes? Do you need anything, Miku?"
Worry plastered on Kaito's face. Miku always hated that look on his face, but that has to change.
"From now on," Miku paused, then added, "I'll be sure to tell you everything."
A smile was drawn to Kaito's lips. He hummed happily, then planted many kisses on Miku's damp hair, earning a soft giggle from his beloved. Kaito's unoccupied hand moved to hold Miku's hand, then planted a soft kiss on her temple. "I'm so glad you're back, Miku," he whispered sweetly.
Miku smiled, tears swelling up in her eyes. She's glad too.
