Work Text:
“Here kitty, kitty… here kitty, kitty.”
The sing-song words floated eerily through a church full of dust and broken color, the light splashed like fallen petals between the shattered boards. His boots crunched on glass, stirring the doves in the rafters.
The golden barrel of his gun followed them lazily as they took flight, but their confection pink feathers held no appeal. Not sweet enough, not soft enough, not enough to sink his teeth into.
...lost my kitten… it smelled like flowers...
He was always so hungry, now. It gnawed at his insides with teeth sharper than his own. It never slept, never stopped hunting, so neither did he.
“Want something sweet,” he grumbled. “Sweet and soft and soft and sweet…”
Something stirred in the fractured light, something that whispered and swayed like midnight flowers on nodding stems. Something that smelled sweet and soft and sharp like teeth. Small hands like folded petals, tipped with thorns that dripped mouth-watering nectar, covering his eyes. Soft voice that teased, sharp teeth that felt like hunger coming home.
“Guess who?”
