back to where it all began

Summary:

Olethra,

I’m comfortable and healthy, and that’s all I can hope for in the near future. I do wish to return to the arena and wrap my fists again. It’s been all too long since I had a chance to properly go out and get into a good scrape.

Work Text:

Maxwell,

I hope you’re well. How are things at home? Mom and dad won’t stop writing me to ask if I’m okay. I don’t know how many more times I can write yes, I’m fine… before my hand falls off. I really am fine, and the Wind Riding life is perfect for me.

I wish you’d join me and Ludmila sometime. I know you have lots to do with your family, but I think it’d be good for you to take a break. Come back to Zood with us and we’ll visit the arena again! Mila said she’d be happy to see you too.

Write back as soon as you can.

All my love,

Olethra MacLeod.

Olethra,

I am well. My family matters have kept me busy; particularly the matter of my brothers finding themselves partners and getting the hell out of my house.

I’m comfortable and healthy, and that’s all I can hope for in the near future. I do wish to return to the arena and wrap my fists again. It’s been all too long since I had a chance to properly go out and get into a good scrape.

My days on the Zephyr were the best of my life, though I was hesitant to admit it in the moment. I find myself dreaming of going back more nights than not. To that end, I’d love to arrange a time to travel with Ludmila and yourself.

Speaking of, how is Ludmila? I trust she’s getting on well enough, being already rather experienced in aviation when I met her. I do hope the two of you get along, as I know it can be difficult to be up in the air with someone for an extended period of time.

Let me know when you’ll be making port here next.

Best,

Maxwell Gotch.

Maxwell,

That’s something! I can’t imagine having as many brothers as you. I guess I can’t imagine having brothers at all, but you’re probably something like that to me. Do you ever wish you were an only child?

I talked to Ludmila about it (seriously, this time), and we’d be happy to make port as soon as we’re back in Gath! We shouldn’t be later than a couple weeks, so make sure your bags are packed.

I’m really excited for you to see the sights of Zood again, especially now that we don’t have to save the world and end a centuries-long war. Maybe you can find that guy who fucked up your knees and fuck his knees up this time.

Ludmila is well! We get along great, and she’s really good at keeping us out of bad places and making sure we aren’t getting conned by folks. We spend most of our time on the ground in Oda, since the people there are friendliest (and the food is the best).

Looking forward to seeing you!

Love,

Olethra MacLeod.

Olethra,

I look forward to your arrival. It should only be a week and some days now, but I thought I ought to write you anyway. My bags are packed and ready, and I need only think about the trip ahead if I need to smile. My wraps and oil are packed safely, and I can hardly wait to feel the sting of cuts on my knuckles once again.

I am glad to hear that you think of me as a brother, and I do believe your assumption is correct. If I was to have a sister, I’d be glad if she was like you. To answer your question, I did often wish I was an only child when I was younger. Now, I do still sometimes wonder about what my life would have looked like if I were my father’s only son, but I don’t dwell too long.

I am excited to see Zood again as well. I believe my time there was somewhat tainted by the task at hand, and I am ready to see the sights without the feelings of doom and gloom pervading our travels.

I would enjoy to fight the man who turned my knees inside out, if he is still participating in such contests. It would be due payback.

I am glad to hear that Ludmila is well. I am looking forward to hearing of your travels so far, and to see how the ship has held up.

Hoping to see you soon; travel safely.

Best wishes,

Maxwell.
