Chapter Text
It was a normal day in the Armed Detective Agency, except their is never usually a normal day, so it was suspected that something would go wrong today. Kunikida didn't yell at Dazai at all today (though that could be because Dazai found a hidden spot to sleep at where Kunikida couldn't see him). Yosano was talking with Kenji and Kyouka about something, Atsushi was talking with Junichiro while they worked. But then Fukuzawa walked into the middle of the room, holding some papers in his hands and having a serious look like always he let out a small grunt and got everyone's attention before speaking.
"I have a case that Ranpo might like to work. Would anyone like to go with him so he can get through the train station and to where he needs to go?"
Kenji raised his hand with a smile as always.
"I can go with him president!"
"..that wouldn't be the best idea, but thanks for trying to help Kenji."
"Aw man..."
"I-i can go with him again, mister president.."
Atsushi said with a half raised hand.
"Hm.. I dont see why you can't go with him again, Atsushi."
Ranpo butted into the conversation.
"I didn't even get a say in this! What's in this case that makes you think I would find it fun to go on!"
Ranpo asked with a pout and half eaten bag of chips in his lap. Crumbs were near his mouth a bit as he had his hand pointed at Fukuzawa acutely. Fukuzawa just let out a small sigh before speaking.
"Well, Ranpo, this case is at a candy store, and once you get their the store owner said you can have as many snacks and drinks as you want from the store."
Ranpo jumped up from his seat quickly with a big smile. He put on his glasses dramatically and pointed at Atsushi.
"Let's go, Atsushi! Hurry up. We need to get this case done quickly! I expect the store as good snacks and soda!"
Ranpo quickly grabbed the papers about the case from Fukuzawa's arms and dragged Atsushi by his callor down and out of the Armed Detective Agency building while he yelped
"Ranpo! Don't go too fast! You're choking me!"
"You will live! We need to hurry up and get this case done!"
Dazai, who had moved to a window at some point, just chuckled at the scene and looked over at Kunikida.
"Hehe~" It seems Ranpo was extremely excited for this case, huh Kunikida~"
Kunikida didn't even look away from his paperwork while he spoke.
"You know how Ranpo is with his snacks and stuff. It was no surprise that this happened."
Dazai just did another small chuckle and then tried to sneak away to go nap again, only to be grabbed by his callor and thrown into the chair next to Kunikida by Kunikida
"And where do you think you're going!? You're not gonna go run away and nap in some corner like the lazy cat you are! Get your butt to work. You will be right next to me so you don't run away!"
Ranpo was already down a street before he stopped and looked over at Atsushi.
"...okay, so like, where do we go now..?"
Atsushi still catching his breath and wheezing.
"Ha...ha....well, we need to go a bit more down some blocks and then down to the train station, which will have a big sign with a train on it."
Knowing how Ranpo isn't a very sports person with speed and breathing to be running much while carring he pulled out one of the sodas he keeps with him and handed it to Ranpo.
"Hmn...? Do you want me to use my ability right now....of all the times you could ask now..? Hehe~ just can never get enough of my ability can you?~"
"...as much as I would like to use this soda for that... I want you to have it for free, I know how tired you get after running and all so here..."
Ranpo looked a bit surprised but took the soda and started drinking it while Atsushi lead the way to the train station.
Eventually, they had their tickets and were on the train. Ranpo was sitting next to Atsushi, pouting at the squished space on the train and loud chatting going on.
"Tsk! ...This place is loud, and their is no room at all! ...I am basically hugging you at this point, Atsushi!"
"I am sorry Ranpo...but this is how trains always are in the morning... You're gonna have to push through like last time..."
Ranpo complained throughout the ride here and their but just ate some of the sweets he brought with him, munching on chips and drinking the soda Atsushi gave him....
