Chapter Text
Maxine Mayfield didn’t like her family.
She didn’t like her step-brother, Billy.
And didn’t like her step-father, Neil.
Neil wasn’t a good person, and neither was Billy.
Billy was an asshole, and Neil was an abuser.
Max had some sort of respect for her mother, Susan. She was obviously struggling with alcohol and was very unhappy with Neil.
But she still didn’t like her.
Max and Billy weren’t born into good families
Billy’s father was angry, and Max’s mother was an alcoholic.
Although they went through most of the same things, they both dealt with their problems in completely different ways.
Max coped through sarcasm and wit, whilst Billy had become somewhat of a mirror of his dad.
Always angry.
It was never ending.
All she wanted to do was escape,
to escape this hell.
”Maxine! Maxine! Maxine!” Billy yelled from downstairs. “Get the Hell down here, Max!”
Oh Hell.
She carefully walked down, expecting the worst.
“Sweetheart…” her mother began. “We’re sending you to a finishing school.” She said
”What?”
Oh she was escaping for sure.
She cut her ginger hair, it was now up to her cheek.
She was leaving this hell.
She tied a corset around her waist to bind her chest, and practised a more masculine voice.
Now, she was Maxwell Jones, a 16 year old boy who just got recruited as a knight for the royal family.
Now she just needed to get on the train.
once she arrived to the castle, she noticed a tall boy, he looked kind of weird, he had black hair and brown eyes.
“What are you looking at?” He asked, “What are you?” She snapped back.
“I’m looking at you cause’ you’re looking at me.”
“Okay… what’s your name?” Max asked.
”Micheal Wheeler, Mike for short. You?” He replied.
”Maxwell Jones, Max for short.”
“Huh,” Mike muttered.
”Fo you know any of the people here?” He asked.
“I mean, some?” Max responded. “I don’t really know Princess Jane and Prince William.”
“Well Princess Jane is said to be the most beautiful girl in all the land, and Prince William is said to be the most handsome boy in all the land.” Mike stated.
”Huh, Princess Jane sounds gorgeous, doesn’t she?” Max asked.
“Yeah, sure.”
