"Thursday dawned with grudging apricity"

There was a time where Sunny had welcomed the darkness of winter. It was an excuse to stay inside without guilt, and provided an easier explanation as to why he was so tired.
Now, though, he misses the warmth of the sun, the only thing that came close to the feeling of being with his friends. He misses them too – every day, he wishes he could go back.
Stepping out of his house, he feels the need to cover his eyes for the first time in weeks. The sun is bright, and the wind is warmer. It’s a good day.
