Work Text:

“Are you sure about this, my liege?"

Shockwave asked the warlord.

“Yes. This will make sure that the foolish Stunticon will learn his lesson about fraternizing with Autobots.”

Megatron answered.

A patrol had been ordered to capture the Primes' best scout. The warlord hatched a plan to implant false memories into the scout to make him hate the Stunticon. Their disgusting friendship will fall apart.

So there the scout was, beaten up and unconscious on the experiment table, ready to be hooked up with the cortical psychic patch.

Bee opened his optics to a bright light and a helmache, and then an immediate hug from his friend Arcee.

“I was so worried about you!”

He was in Medbay?

“How did I get here?”

“We found you out in the middle of nowhere. It seemed like you were just dropped off there. Either way, I'm glad you're okay.”

Arcee hugged him tighter.

“Ow.”

“Sorry.”

Bee’s spark ached as he spaced out in thought. He never expected that fight to ever happen. It broke his spark entirely. Why would he do that…?

Bumblebee was out on patrol for the first time after his injury. It felt good to be back outside again. Maybe not while it was plagued with war, but he hoped that would change.

Suddenly, he heard the roar of a familiar engine, dreading the impact. No…not him. The bot that the familiar engine sound was coming from soon transformed.

“Bee, where were you? I've been waiting for you at our spot but you never showed up.”

Breakdown was then greeted with a charged up stinger pointed right at his neck, prompting him to raise his servos in defense.

“Woah…Bee... What are you doing…?”

“You think that I want to meet up with you after what you did?”

Bee asked, optics brimming with tears.

“What are you talking about…?”

Breakdown asked with concern.

“Don't play stupid! You ambushed me on my last patrol!”

The tears fell as he thought about it.

Tears brimmed in Breakdown’s own optics as well, he had no idea what was happening. He thought that maybe Bee hit his helm that made him believe that he was attacked. And by Breakdown no less.

“Bee…I promise that I never hurt you. I don't know why you think that, but I want to help.”

Bee just stood there, tears falling down his cheeks from his optics. He looked really conflicted. Bee didn't know what to think. Why would Breakdown lie? Why would he pretend it didn't happen if they both knew it was really real.

Bee struggled to get his words out, servo and stinger shaking.

“I don't…I don’t know if I can believe you.”

“I know…but please. Let me get to the bottom of this.”

Breakdown gently moved Bee’s stinger away from his neck, slowly pulling Bee into a hug.

“Tell me what happened.”

“I was…I was on patrol. And then out of nowhere…you suddenly jumped me. We fought but you won. You hurt me. I woke up in Medbay with Arcee telling me she was glad that I was okay.”

Bee finished his rant with deep breaths, calming himself.

Breakdown sighed.

“Alright, none of that happened, I can tell you that. What I do think…is that someone tampered with your processor.”

Bee looked unsure, so Breakdown attempted to convince him further.

“Bee you have to believe me…I would never do that to you. You were unconscious right? Maybe that's when the culprit messed with your memories. I have an idea…go back to your base and have your medic check your memory banks for tampering. Maybe he could fix it.”

Bee hesitantly nodded his helm, he finally agreed to the idea.

“Alright, I'll go.”

“Okay.”

When he walked into Medbay, he looked at Ratchet for a long moment, wondering how to word his question.

After a minute went by, Ratchet spoke up, feeling the pair of optics on the back of his helm.

“Well? Speak up. What do you need?”

It was the push to finally get Bee to speak.

“I think my memory bank was tampered with. I want you to see if it was…please.”

“What makes you think it was tampered with?”

Ratchet asked.

Bee tried to think of something.

“I just…have a feeling.”

“Alright then, sit down.”

Bee did as he was told and he sat down on a medical table. Ratchet walked over to him with his medical equipment, scanner in servo. He held the scanner by Bee’s helm. Bee waited patiently for the medic to do his thing.

When Ratchet looked at the scanner for the results, his expression wasn't great.

“You were correct. It appears your memory banks indeed have been tampered with. Yesterday to be exact.”

So Breakdown was right…And Bee almost attacked him for no reason over false memories. But how could it have happened? He didn’t remember anything else other than Breakdown ambushing him.

“I can fix it, but I'll have to put you under for the procedure.”

Ratchet said.

“That's fine. I want to be fixed.”

Bee replied, sighing.

Bee’s optics opened to a bright light again. But this time with no pain. When he tried to think about it, the memory of Breakdown ambushing him was no longer there. He was glad that he never had to relive that memory ever again.

He basically forgot what happened already. But now that the correct memory was in place, he now remembered that he was ambushed by a group of cons and knocked out.

“Thanks Ratch.”

“No problem kiddo.”

Bee was driving up to his and Breakdown’s meet up spot. He had to tell him the good news. Breakdown was already there. Bee drove up to him and transformed into his bot mode, hugging him tightly.

“I'm sorry that I doubted you. Turns out, someone really did tamper with my memories. It was really a group of Decepticons that ambushed me and must've kidnapped me.”

“I'm glad that you aren't pointing your stinger at me anymore. Y'know how scary it was to be at the other end of that thing?”

Breakdown chuckled.

“Yeah, watch out though. I might change my mind.”

Bee joked.

“Ooo, scary. So uh…how about a race?”

“You're on.”
