The Elephant In The Room

Summary:

Breakdown insisting on helping only makes Bee’s problem worse.

(Febuwhump Day 17: Fingers in the Wound)

Work Text:

“Bee, are you okay?”

Breakdown asked with worry.

“Yeah, I'm fine. Don't worry about it.”

Bee replied, trying to contain his shaking.

His armor has been rattling and he's been getting tired too easily. It was hard to concentrate on certain things. And recently it's been getting worse.

Breakdown rolled his optics.

“You're not fine, You're bouncing your leg faster than me in a race.”

He was indeed bouncing his leg, he didn't even notice. Bee stopped it, holding his servos down on his thigh if he had to.

“I'm fine, just don't worry about it.”

Bee quickly stood up and left the room with haste, leaving Breakdown alone.

And that was that.

Bee's stinger was out…and he couldn't get it to go away.

“Please stop…”

He desperately tried to transform it back to his servo, but every time he tried, he just shot at a tree. Bee panicked on the inside, opting to just hold down his arm. Clearly the forest didn't like him, but he appreciated that it was secluded and empty.

“So you're worried about what I do with my life but not worried about your own?”

Breakdown question with suspicion.

“Breakdown, I'm fine. I don't know what you're talking about.”

“You are not fine. You're still living in the war! You can refuel normally now! You don't have to worry about running out of energon.”

“You don't know that! What if we do?! We can’t guarantee a lifetime supply from just this planet!”

Bee feared the worst every time he refueled.

“What I can guarantee is that you'll die if you starve yourself of energon! I don't want that to happen! Do you think I want to see you slowly kill yourself?! No!”

Tears brimmed in the corners of Breakdown’s optics.

“It isn't any of your business! I don't need you!”

Breakdown was rendered speechless. He couldn’t think of a counter argument. It only hurt his spark that Bee would say that.

“Fine…”

He walked away after that. Breakdown didn’t want to believe that Bee would slowly die from energon starvation, but their argument only made things worse. He just wanted Bee to be honest to him and let him help.

It's been days after their argument and Breakdown managed to stumble across Bee in the forest. He wasn't right. Bee was stumbling and limping to who knows where.

Breakdown walked up to him, trying to get his attention.

“Bee, where are you going?”

“I don't…I don’t know. Maybe to base, I think.”

Bee looked tired and out of it. He didn't sound fully there either.

“You're going in the completely wrong direction then.”

“Oh…”

Bee sounded disappointed

“Come on, I'll help you back to the farm.”

Once they're back, he'll give Bee the energon he needs. Despite their argument, Breakdown was still willing to help him.

They were best friends, after all.
