Work Text:
Amaris was resting in their room, wings tucked tight against their sides as they waited for the clock to ding and signal the round had come to an end. It was the last round of the day, and unfortunately it had taken Azure. So many other killers, and yet it took the one they had wanted to speak with.
Disappinting, yes, but there's nothing they can do about it. It was only an hour of waiting after all, they could be patient.
...
Probably.
. . .
Maybe.
. . .
Well, actually...
. . .
Maybe they couldn't be patient.
Their tails swished behind them, slightly irritated. They stared out the window, despite there being nothing but trees and grass outside. Admittedly, it was nicer then the environment they saw in their dreams. At the very least you could see over the walls.
But that wasn't a compliment. They'd never compliment the Spectres design. They hated it far too much to even consider doing such. It annoyed them beyond belief, and it subjected so many innocent people to torture... At least it let them kill the yellow hat guy over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over... Ah, they were getting distracted.
The bell toll was what prevented them from getting distracted, and with it they stood and left their room.
Their wings scrapped against the hallway walls, their tails dragging behind them and occasionally getting caught on a piece of wood sticking up from the floor. They trailed down the stairs, their gaze focusing on the spot Azure should respawn in.
They stood at the end of the stairs idly, waiting.
1x1x1x1 gave them a brief wave when she spotted them, in which they gave one in return. C00lkidd seemed to ignore this, as he just bounced up and down on the couch. He was preparing to jump onto Azure as soon as they spawned, a rather common occurrence they had grown to realize.

He was taking a little while to respawn. Odd. Usually the killer would respawn a few seconds after the round ended.
What was going on? The Spectres code, while glitchy at times, had never messed up a simple respawn.
Was something happening that was keeping Azure back? Now, of all times? When Amaris was planning on talking to them?
It was rather irritating. Or more so.
Their tails swished restlessly, wings twitching at being kept stuck against their sides for so long. The eyes around their head opened, despite their head wings being open as well. They usually only did that during rounds, how odd...
1x1x1x1 seemed to notice both Amaris’ obvious distress/annoyance at the lack of Azure respawning. He looked at C00lkidd, signaling for the child to quit bouncing on the couch. The child did so, a little confused. Noli trailed into the room, probably planning on bothering someone when it realized the tension. It didn't seem to care.
"W04h—W04h—W0-0-04h¡!¡! \/\/h47'5 W1-1-1-7h 7h3 gl00—gl00m¿?" It asked, floating over towards 1x1x1x1. 1x1x1x1 gave it a pointed glare, crossing their arms and shifting their weight onto one leg.
"1F Y0U MU57 KN0W, P4R45173, 4ZUR3 15N'7 R35P4WN1NG. 7H3 R0UND'5 0V3R." 1x1x1x1 explained flatly, glancing at Noli briefly.
When he looked back however, Amaris was also gone.

Amaris blinked, and suddenly they weren't in the lobby anymore. Of course. What in Spawns name was the Spectre doing..?
They looked around their surroundings briefly. A large cherry tree beside them, a hill that they were upon, pink petals decorating the grass, and a small checkered blanket on the ground off to the side. A little ways away, Azure stood within the falling petals.
Amaris relaxed slightly, but was quite tense nonetheless. Their wings spread out a little, no longer cramped together by their sides. Their tails curled around each other as they walked over to Azure, the eyes around their head still scanning the area in case the Spectre tried to pull something.
Azure spotted Amaris, and met them in the middle, right under the large cherry tree. The fabricated sun shone through the flowers, a sun Amaris couldn't recall ever seeing anywhere aside from their dreams.
It was a pink weeping cherry tree, a rather pretty species. The boy in their dreams spoke of many plants, but he never seemed to speak of trees specifically. They liked trees.
Azure crossed his arms as he stood, idly looking around. Then he uncrossed his arms and his hands started moving, leading to every single one of Amaris’ eyes focusing on him and his hands. He seemed a little unnerved at the sudden focus but didn't pause.
'Any idea what this is?' Azure signed, some of his tentacle-vines tentatively reaching out to the tree while others reach towards the petals on the ground. Amaris’ eyes followed Azures tentacle-vines, before they settled back into examining the area.
“I̶'̸m̸ ̷a̵f̴r̷a̵i̷d̴ ̵n̴o̵t̷.̴ ̴P̴e̴r̶h̵a̸p̷s̴ ̸o̵n̸e̶ ̸o̵f̷ ̶t̸h̵e̷ ̴S̷p̵e̶c̵t̸r̵e̴s̸ ̷g̵a̴m̵e̶s̵?̴” They concluded, the eyes on their face looking up at the flowers while the eyes on their head continued their examination of the area. A Prunus pendula, a rather beautiful species of tree. It seemed well maintained, however they knew it wasn't real. Most of this trees species didn't look quite like this truly.
Azures hands moved again, Amaris’ eyes focused again. 'I don't think so, it doesn't make things like this.' He signed, confusion spreading across his features. Amaris nodded faintly, wings twitching.
“N̷o̷,̷ ̷I̴ ̶s̴u̷p̴p̶o̶s̸e̶ ̶i̸t̷ ̷d̸o̶e̸s̸n̷'̵t̴ ̸u̶s̸u̸a̶l̶l̵y̵.̶” They stated, the eyes surrounding their head finally closing to rest. All expect one of course, but that one never closed. Not even whilst they slept. “D̵o̴ ̶y̴o̶u̷ ̷k̶n̵o̸w̶ ̸o̷f̵ ̴a̵n̷y̶ ̸e̶v̸e̴n̸t̵s̶ ̸t̷h̵a̵t̷ ̴c̷o̸u̷l̶d̸ ̸r̷e̸l̵a̶t̶e̷ ̶t̷o̷ ̶t̸h̷i̷s̴ ̶e̴n̴v̷i̶r̶o̴n̶m̷e̷n̶t̸?̷” They asked, reaching up to pluck a flower and twirl it between their blackened claws.
'Not that I can think of.' Azure signed simply, slightly dissapointingly. What could the Spectre have possibly summoned the two there for?
Oh great.
Their question was going to have an answer from the very being it was directed at.
The Spectre appeared, in an incredibly dulled down form. Well, at least it might explain. Amaris glared at it regardless, wings puffing up. Their tails uncurled from each other to instead curl around their legs. Azures tentacle-vines stiffened before they started lashing irritably. When a stray one hit the Spectre it just fazed through the being.. unfortunately.

("You know what? You two aren't leaving until you do something about... this. Kiss or something, I don't know. I'm sick of you two gaying up my prison.")
And then, it was gone again. This time to stay gone, and to leave Amaris and Azure staring blankly at where it had once been with deflated wings and very still tentacle-vines.
—
Amaris sat on the blanket, face covered by their head wings. Most of their body was covered by their actual wings as well. Like they were trying to hide. Not even the eyes surrounding their head were open, except the one that always was. Their tails wagged, hitting each other repeatedly. They didn't really care about that though, they were just trying to figure out why the Spectre wanted them to go on a date with Azure.
Azure was also sat on the blanket, on the opposite corner of them. It didn't matter much. Both were pretty big, so the small blanket didn't do much to give either space. Azures tentacle-vines trashed around, some pressing against the ground like they were trying to tunnel into the earth while the others just flailed around.
It was.. a little awkward admittedly. Neither knew what to do—... Or rather, they both knew what to do, but neither knew how to initiate it.
The Spectre was treating them like dolls.
Because it didn't want them 'gaying up' it's prison.
How stupid is that?
They weren't even gay!... To their knowledge.
That knowledge was growing quieter when they felt a tentacle-vine gently touch one of their wings. The eyes around their head opened, granting them vision. The sight before them was honestly a mix between pathetic and adorable.
Azure was carefully letting one tentacle-vine reach out to Amaris, likely to get their attention considering he was practically mute. He was leaning forward, braced on one hand and a few other tentacle-vines to hold himself up. His voided eyes looked at them tentatively, almost nervously. When he noticed the eyes around their head were now open he quickly adjusted to sit up properly and actually be able to use his hands.
'It's best if we do this quickly.' Azure signed, though his hands were shaking slightly—making the movements quick and sharp. His face was absolutely flushed and Amaris wasn't sure how to feel about that. Or, really, about this entire interaction.
Amaris slowly unwrapped their wings from where they had hidden their form, their head wings following suit. All but one of the eyes around their head closed as their actual eyes looked down at the blanket they and Azure were situated on. Their face felt hot. Were they flushed as well? Probably.
They slowly reached out, shifting to lean more towards Azure. Their hand wrapped around one of his, blackened claws meeting dark purple skin to lower it to the ground as their other hand reached up to cup Azures face as carefully as they could manage.
Azure stiffened but didn't move away at all, giving Amaris a small nod of consent. Amaris hesitated briefly, before leaning in to give the Spectre what it had apparently wanted.
Cracked lips met cold, metallic ones. As gentle as one could manage. Amaris’ head wings shielded the twos connecting faces from whatever other view there could possibly be in this realm. Their tails curled, one flicking out to circle one of Azures tentacle-vines while the other just wagged back and forth almost aggressively.
It was an odd feeling, especially with the zipper, but they didn't mind oddly enough. Was is it still gay if they had no gender technically?
Their wings spread out, curling ever so slightly around both of their forms. Just enough for the feathers to barely ghost over dark skin.
The kiss lasted slightly longer then meant to, but Amaris eventually pulled away. They couldn't tell, but Azure almost looked disappointed when they did. They were too focused on the fact they were no longer on the pretty hill with the tree, and instead in the lobby.
C00lkidd booed, causing Amaris to look up and cover their face with their head wings. The eyes around their head replaced their vision. The small child was giving the two on the floor a thumbs down, before hurrying away. Probably to inform Noli of the new fact that Amaris and Azure had kissed.
1x1x1x1 was standing off to the side, but she quickly approached when the pair spawned in. She dragged Amaris and Azure to their feet by the ears, despite being significantly shorter then both of them. She separated them both by dragging Amaris away, much to their confusion.
Azure stared for a moment, but was their shock was interrupted by the small child returning with Noli in tow. The void God proceeded to look incredibly disappointed and leave out the front door, likely to share it's disappointment that it did not get to see Amaris and Azure kissing with Guest 666. The poor person.
C00lkidd chased after Noli, brushing past Azure and sticking his tongue out at them as he did.
Azure stared blankly. Their hand slowly raised to their face, fingers brushing against the zipper on their lips.
They then stood there in a sort of stunned silence for a good ten minutes before wandering upstairs to their room.
