Work Text:

The battlefield was loud with blaster shots and yelling.

Breakdown was hiding behind a wall of debris, readying his blaster in his servos. His brother, Deadend, was next to him doing the same.

“This is all pointless, we're all going to die someday anyways.”

Deadend sighed.

“Well, let's just not let it be today.”

Breakdown responded.

Breakdown readied his position, ready to spring up and attack. When blaster fire slowed down, he popped up from behind the debris and shot the first Autobot he saw.

When he realized what Autobot he hit, it was too late. The shot hit the Autobot, making him cry out and fall behind their own wall of debris.

“Bee!”

Another Autobot shouted with worry.

Breakdown’s spark stopped.

No…

“Get down!”

Before he could be hit with incoming blaster fire, he was pulled back down by Deadend.

“What the frag are you doing?! I thought you said to not let our deaths be today!”

“I hit him! I hit Bee!”

He frantically said, optics brimming with tears.

The anger from Deadend faded away.

“I…”

He didn't know what to say.

“I hit him! What if I killed him?! What if he's dead and it's all my fault?! I didn't mean to!”

He panicked.

Deadend carefully peeked over the wall of debris.

“Do you see anything…?”

Breakdown hesitantly asked.

Deadend shook his helm.

“No. I'm sorry.”

The battlefield was so active. He'd never be able to make it over there to check on Bee without being shot by another Autobot.

He could only wait and see.

Their meet up came by quickly.

Breakdown was waiting at the exact location, early. He thought about what he did. He was paranoid that Bee died because of him. If he didn't show, that meant that he died. But if he did show, then all of Breakdown’s worries and fears would go away.

The only thing left would be to beg for forgiveness.

He really didn't mean to hit Bee, It was an impulse shot during a battle. Maybe Bee would understand? Or maybe Bee would hate him for it. One of the worst possible outcomes, other than him being dead.

The sound of a car engine in the distance filled him with hope. The sound got closer and soon Bee drove up to him, stopping and then transforming into bot mode.

Breakdown stared at his face. Bee was now missing an optic. Bee was half blind and it was all Breakdown’s fault.

Bee stood there awkwardly before Breakdown rushed over to him to give him a tight hug.

“I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to shoot you. I just aimed and shot at the first Autobot I saw.”

Bee hugged him back.

“It's okay…I forgive you. Besides, I'd rather it be me than any of my friends.”

“But now you're half blind…and it's my fault because I was too stupid to watch where I was shooting.”

“Breakdown…it's war. There's nothing we can do about it.”

Breakdown sighed. The guilt just wouldn't go away.

“I'm sorry.”

Bee smiled softly, wrapping his arms around Breakdown’s neck. Nothing was said after that, just a kiss that Bee initiated
