Chapter Text
My earliest memories since youth were in a garden.
A woman braided my hair as I played with nearby ants crawling on the floor
A gentle sigh is heard right above me.
''What might be troubling you, ma’am?’’ I say, peeking over my shoulder to meet her gaze. Though she was trying really hard not to seem worried, the crease forming around her eyebrows said otherwise.
"It's about my son, whom I cherish dearly," she finally revealed.
There is a long pause.
''I fear I won't be able to be there to protect him sometimes. He's docile and kind, I don't know if he'll survive in the palace walls.’’
She sighed, resting her head in her hand, truly looking like a woman of many worries.
''What if they take that spark away from him?'' the fair lady said.
''I could protect him,’’ I replied ''How do the nobles do it again? They just get married, right?" I asked plainly.
The woman let out a hearty laugh.
"Well, that's all the better," she said, finishing my hairdo and handing me a mirror.
''Who would be a better fit for my son other than my favourite girl in the world?'' she said, humming to herself as she added flowers to my hair.
I crossed my arms, thinking deeply ‘’What if he turns out to be mean and pompous?’’
''Oh I assure you my Xavie would catch your eye.’’
''Alright then, I'll protect him! Only if it makes you happy My lady.’’
''Promise?’’ she said, extending her finger
''Promise!’’
