"You know, I could get bored of a night that lasts twenty four years." River was reapplying her lipstick.
"Yes, but you know it's our last, before you go to the library."
"What's so bad about the library anyway?"
The Doctor looked at River. "Spoilers, sweetie." She made another note in her diary.
"Look, the point is, we know that this time is our last time together, even if it lasts years. Can't we duck off the planet and go and have fun?" She pouted.
"You know it doesn't work that way."
"No-one need know. Like that time I was forced to kill you and you found a way around it."
"We'd know. And so would the space-time continuum. Have another truffle."
River slumped back on her pillow. "I don't want a truffle. I want some adventure! There's only so much temporal lovemaking that a girl can take."
"I bet you didn't say that to King Hydroflax."
"Jealously doesn't suit you, Sweetie. Aren't you still married to Marilyn Monroe? Amd Elizabeth the first?"
"Til death did us part. I'd died since then. Doesn't count."
"You died since we married."
"In a different timeline."
"Was it? Are you sure? It all got a bit messed up around the shooting. Look, you've got to admit, we're a bit of a polyamorous couple."
The Doctor frowned. "I never touched Polly. Besides, I think Ben had designs on her."
River flicked his nose. "I think that was during one of your asexual incarnations." She put on his sonic sunglasses. "Do they suit me?"
"Everything suits you, River."
"I know."
She ate another truffle and they both watched the towers.
