Work Text:
You don’t remember when you woke up in this hellscape, but for as long as you remember you’ve been stuck in this vessel of a motherly rabbit for who knows how long.
Ever since you woke up, you’ve grown to adjust to the sight of a black sun, the smell of congealed blood and corpses in the air, the withering, crumbling plant life and much more.
It seemed like any other horrifying day, you had just gotten away from Lord X in another life-threatening chase, hiding in a small, damp cave. The smell of ash and char, as much as you got used to it, was growing annoying for you.
As time passed for a while, you remained in that damp cave, checking yourself for wounds and cuts while you had the chance. You were relatively fine, just some bumps and scuffs.
You took a deep breath, it was time to leave. Getting up and dusting your dress off, you slowly made your way out of the cave, checking side to side for any sign of that damn demon.
Taking the chance, you went to running only for a loud and bold screech off in the distance. You felt your heart skip a beat, you had never heard something like that before in all your existence.
Despite being terrified, some part of you felt instinctual. You had to figure this out.
And so, you ran towards the noise.
~
Exe snarled as he lay on the ground, his beastly form writhing in pain from the hit he took from Lord X.
His pain dulled the harsh words that he couldn’t decipher in his head from Lord X.
‘Maybe it was for the best’, he thought. He wasn’t sure how much more harsh words he could take for now. His hallow eyes blankly stared as Lord X took his leave through a red portal.
Finally, even in pain..Exe was alone.
Exe couldn’t help but lay on the ground for what felt like hours, his body yearning for a sense of comfort. He wanted to be held close, cradled even in the arms of someone that wasn’t his father.
Ever since his creation, Exe had hated his father for as long as he could remember. They never had a family bond to begin with, so for him it wasn’t surprising for his father would feel the same.
For years he kept to himself, away from his deadbeat father and fended for himself. Even when he feels like he’s learned so much, a part of him remains young and terrified. This part of him never came out, no matter when it became too strong to handle, he didn’t dare think about it no matter what.
Yet in this moment, something changed.
First it was a sniffle. Then a whine. And soon, tears began to build up and slide down his grizzly and monstrous face. He felt so pathetic.
He had never felt this weak in his life. He wished this was all a bad dream, just a simple nightmare like all the others.
His head span in waves, his vision blurry from the tears. He wanted someone to hold him, someone to..love him.
‘Ma..mma,’ He whined, his head aching more and more.
It wasn’t long until a gentle hand placed itself on his head. He hissed, unsure what or who was there. For all he knew, it was probably his deadbeat father getting ready to lecture him more.
“You poor thing,” The vessel spoke with a soft, warm and motherly tone voice. It was soft to his ears.
“Mm..mama?” Exe asked, his ears twitching slightly.
“Yes dear,” it spoke, it’s hand gently petting and brushing through the thin, crackly quills.
“Momma’s here.”
Exe finally relaxed, his body cracking and shifting back into his fake form as he focused on the sensations of the figure’s hand on his head. His small body felt weak. weaker than usual actually.
He whined, even after being gently picked up and cradled by the figure he whined from the aching in his body.
“You must be aching from all of that, you poor baby.” Exe finally looked up to look at the figure more closely. It was a cream colored, adult female rabbit. For some reason it smelt of vanilla even in a putrid world like this.
Even with such an unfamiliar scent, it felt calming. He didn’t even notice that he was now in a more quiet and secluded area. It seemed like the vessel got lucky with finding a portal ring and had used it to go to somewhere safe.
He looked around the new space, a sense of ease washed over him. As much as he wished he could be cradled forever, he did get whiny until placed onto a soft yet slightly cold table.
As he laid there, he found himself feeling fuzzy in the head and for some reason it felt…comforting. Almost as if he felt his worries melt away. He had gotten so caught up in daydreaming that he never realized the vessel had gotten him dressed in a simple red onesie. Being picked up once more, he was carried over to a rocking chair, which had a small nearby table with a small baby bottle already prepared beforehand.
The vessel turned and sat in the chair, its foot gently giving the chair a small rocking motion. The vessel looked over to the table and grabbed the baby bottle, the bottle in question just filled with milk and nothing else.
Holding the bottle to the hedgehog, Exe was hesitant at first, complete unsure if any of this is was meant to happen. He was a demonic creature, trapped in a vessel that he never asked for. He was meant to kill, to suffer..and yet here he was, being loved and cared for.
He gently latches onto the bottle, gently suckling to his heart’s content.
“That’s a good boy,” The vessel said quietly.
“You’ve had a long day, it’s time to relax.”
Exe felt that fuzzy feeling grow stronger, his heart fluttered as he happily absorbed the attention. This is what he needed, as ridiculous as he’d probably realize later on in his existence.
Finishing off the bottle, he was carried over to a crib and gently placed down. Exe yawned, he didn’t realize how tired he was. The vessel held a pacifier in it’s hand, which then was gently popped into his mouth. Almost like on instinct, he took to the act of suckling very quickly.
With a kiss on the forehead, he finally drifted off to sleep, the last he heard leaving him with a small smile.
“Goodnight sweetheart.”
