Family Ties - Overture

Summary:

Tomura Shigaraki loves his family.

All For One may be a 200 year old supervillain but he's a softie around his wife and kids.

I intend to hopefully write a multichapter fic after this so this is just a short fic to provide some back story and set the scene.

Also please bear with me, this is my first ever fic.

Notes:

Hi. I have no idea if anyone is actually going to read this fic but if you do comments and kudos are appreciated.

As I said, this is my first fic so I hope I'm doing this right.

Tomura is 5.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Tomura Shigaraki had lived with his new parents for a year now. He much preferred them to his old family. They never hit him, or laughed at or belittled him, or withheld essentials like food from him.

No. Instead they supported and encouraged him. They made sure he was healthy, his mom even bought him skin creams that helped him stop feeling like he wanted to tear his skin off. They hugged him after he had nightmares, or even whenever he asked for one. All this was to say he loved his new parents.

And he now had a baby brother too. Izuku Shigaraki. He was only a few weeks old but Tomura knew he would forever protect him, even die for him if necessary. His parents said he was a very good big brother.

Tomura knew that his dad was a supervillain. He knew that when he was old enough he would become a villain too. Most people would have had qualms about this but Tomura wasn’t most people, no heroes had come to save him when he needed it, instead his dad had. The No1 supervillain had come to his rescue instead of the heroes and Tomura would stand by his side no matter what until he had his revenge on the heroes that failed him. And he could only hope that, when the time was right, his brother would stand with him too.

Inko Shigaraki, formerly known as Midoriya, was strolling leisurely down a side street whilst calmly pushing her baby along in a green pram. Looking up at the grey sky she hoped she could get home in time before the rain started.

Anyone else would have been nervous walking somewhere like that, especially a house wife with her very young child, but Inko was married to a man who went by the villain name All For One. She was well aware of his status in the Japanese underground, how dangerous he was and just how many people he had killed. It was precisely because of this that she felt comfortable walking down a side street with no one else in sight at eight o’clock in the evening. Her husband had put out an order that no one was to kill, hurt or even touch any member of his family without their express permission. And nobody disobeyed All For One.

People told horror stories about what happened to those that merely mildly inconvenienced him. Nobody wanted to think about what he would do if someone chose to target his family.

As she reached the end of the side street she heard a faint cry. She stopped suddenly and looked around, waiting to see if she would hear it again. Sensing that they had paused, in his pram Izuku let out a small babble.

“Shhh” Inko shushed him gently. After a few more seconds she heard another cry, this one much quieter than the last. She followed the sound to a foul smelling dumpster and peered inside.

Laying on top of a garbage bag that was spilling open was a baby. It looked to be about a month old and had tear tracks running down its face, evidently it had been crying for quite some time. Its skin was worryingly bloodless and its fingers and nose were turning blue.

As Inko reached her arms towards it it quieted down and weakly tried to grab at her sleeve.

It was almost midnight but Tomura was still up, playing a game on a handheld console he had gotten for his birthday a few months previously when there was a gentle knock on his bedroom door.

Pausing the game, he looked up and said “yeah”. His mom poked her head in.

“Tomura honey,” she said with thinly veiled excitement in her eyes, “could you come to the living room for a second please?”

He quickly jumped up off his bed and followed her out of the room, wanting to see what she was so excited about but stopped in his tracks when he saw his dad.

Or rather when he saw what was in his dad’s arms. A baby. A baby he had never seen before. Not Izuku. No, Izuku was lying in a crib next to his dad. Seeing or perhaps hearing Tomura enter the room, his dad looked up at him and beckoned him over.

Once Tomura was seated next to him, his mom sat down on the side of his dad and the man in question said “This is your new brother.”

The boy looked up at him in surprise. “My new brother?”

“Yes. Your mom found him in a dumpster. The poor thing was freezing. Your mom took him to the hospital and when the police were called they said there were no reports of any missing babies. Judging by where he was found, it's safe to assume that he was abandoned. Once he was cleared to leave the hospital the social worker said that unless his birth parents come forward to claim him he will be put into foster care and likely bounced around foster homes until someone decides to adopt him permanently.”

Tomura looked up at his dad with a mixture of emotions. Horrified, yes, that someone could be so heartless as to abandon their own child. This only served to solidify his beliefs that society had to change, even if that meant tearing it down. He was also glad. Glad that this baby had been found just as he had a year ago.

“So,” his dad continued, “your mom and I decided that we would adopt him. Hopefully the paperwork will be sorted quickly and we will be his legal guardians. There was no record of a birth certificate so we filed one ourselves.”

He gently lifted the baby into Tomura's arms before both of his parents smiled at them.

“Tomura, say hello to your new baby brother, Denki Shigaraki.”

Notes:

So I have a vague plotline (by vague I mean non-existant) for the main story.

The premise is basically that Denki is the UA spy. Shigaraki is a protective older brother and prefers not to hurt children and people who he doesn't think deserve it. I have no idea if I want Izuku to go to UA.

Denki and Tomura have their canon quirks, Izuku had AFO, I don't know if I want to give him OFA.

If you have any ideas please let me know in the comments.
