Work Text:
Vietnam was resting stiffly on her side of their shared bed... Beside her, Taiwan, was latched onto her like a koala, her bright pink sleepwear bunched up at the waist and her ahoge twitched with every loud snore and her mouth was decorated with a trail of drool was steadily migrating from her lips onto the sleeve of Vietnam’s pajamas.
Vietnam’s eyes snapped open.
...She stared at the ceiling for a bit, her expression flat, before slowly turning her head to look at the girl clinging to her arm. Vietnam reached out and sharply flicked her fingers against Taiwan’s forehead.
Flick!
"Ow... wha-?" Taiwan mumbled, blinking her eyes open and rubbing the red spot on her skin. She looked up at Vietnam with a sleepy, lopsided grin.
"It is three in the morning," Vietnam said. She sat up "And you are snoring so loudly that I have only managed to get an hour of sleep. Not to mention, you have ruined my clothing with your slobber. Go sleep in the guest room... I need actual rest."
Taiwan’s face immediately fell into a dramatic pout. She sat up, clutching a pillow. "Whaaat?! But Vietnam, it’s cold in there! And you’re so warm and cuddly. I can’t sleep if I’m not next to you!"
"You need a breathing strip," Vietnam countered, crossing her arms. "We have a big meeting with the rest of ASEAN tomorrow, and I cannot be nodding off because of you. Out."
"Nooo!" Taiwan lunged forward, wrapping her arms around Vietnam’s waist and burying her face in her shoulder. "Please let me stay! I promise I’ll be quiet! Just... don't kick me out... it’s lonely in the other room and the bed isn't as soft as this one!"
Vietnam sighed.
She looked down at Taiwan. "Fine," Vietnam said. "But on one condition... you stay awake until I fall asleep. That way, I can actually get some rest before you start snoring again."
Taiwan beamed. "Really?! Yay! I can do that!"
Vietnam pulled the blanket up to her chin and closed her eyes. "Just... do not drool on me again."
"I promise! Total silence! You won't even know I'm here!" Taiwan whispered loudly.
