Chapter Text
It's just a regular Tuesday in spring, the last weeks of middle school finally making everyone's spirit lightheaded. There's no need to worry about upcoming exams, except for us, oldest students, or just my group cause we haven't decided on a high school yet. And I'm on the schools buss stop with Inai, waiting for the busses to arrive so we can get home
"Going into the UA high? Ha! That's for losers, why would you even suggest that?" I found it stupid, why would my friend want to go into the most popular hero school in Japan? "Didn't both of your parents go there when they were younger, Shinso? And it would be so cool! Imagine fighting all those villains, people admiring you, being a good person in general. I can't even imagine how it would feel" Oh, yeah, right, cause people circling me everywhere I go sounds just perfect
Seems like I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Kohaku Shinso, 15 years old and son of Hitoshi Shinso and Neito Shinso. Well I guess he used to be Neito Monoma but he got married and somehow agreed to change his name. And this person next to me? My best friend Inai Hikaru, she has been with me since I was the size of an ukulele. Weird comparison but I like to think I start life as an ukulele and grow up to be an electric bass. Yeah now it sounded even weirder
"Oh Please Shinso, even Kirishima agreed on it. Besides, you can always just decide to go back to music after. We need you in our class, and Midoriya is already going to the support course in there" Inai looks at me like I just kicked a puppy, God I hate how she can just do that. It might be easier if you have dark blue eyes like that, and the personality of a motivational speaker. "I could consider it... Fine I'm coming. I'll just prove all those idiots how much stronger I am than them, and where is Kirishima?"
I swear, almost every pro-hero couple live on this area, so that's why we're all in the same school. Yes, I just happen to be a Shinso who's best friends with a Midoriya and Kirishima, ok? It's not a big deal anyway. Midoriya Yaoko takes after her father and is quirkless, but loves technology and dreams if being a technician. Kirishima Isamu? Oh, he's just like his both parents. He'd absolutely love to be a hero, but his quirk is complicated.
You know when something sounds too good to be true? Like a mix of a hardening quirk and explosion quirk? Something messed up in the process of his quirk evolving, so now instead of having a cool double quirk, Kirishima is able to make explosions out of hardened skin. How will that ever work out? He's been stressing about it, but he won't admit it. Such a stubborn fool, I could easily help him, I'm good at everything! Comforting is my finest art
Inai Hikaru, you must have heard of shark boy and lava girl? Well her quirk is like Lava girls superpower, she can control lava. The lava develops from her strong emotions. Don't ask me how that's possible, it would need a lot of long words I don't understand
My quirk? I knew you'd love to know. Okay, now, imagine my fathers quirks combined. Now, you did it the wrong way. I can steal your virginity! No sorry, that was unnecessary. I can manipulate quirks physical or verbal contact. Pretty lucky, right? I'm just that good!
Kirishima runs to us. He had to stay after class because he threw an eraser at the teacher saying "Now you're like eraserhead!" After the teacher mocked Eraserhead, or Aizawa Shota as I know him. Honestly the teacher deserved it, Aizawa was one of the coolest heroes, and he was underground!
"Sorry guys, that dickhead of a teacher made me write on the whiteboard" Kirishima says as he puts his arms around our shoulders. He's a clingy idiot
"Is Midoriya coming?" Inai asks, and it piques my interest too. Midoriya is never in trouble, NEVER. She's like a saint, but tough, a tough saint.
"No, she left early today. Apparently she's going on a trip for her parents work, they didn't want to leave her here. Didn't you hear that yet?" Kirishima gives her an answer, like it was the most obvious thing ever. "But She didn't say anything to me about it! She never leaves me uninformed!" Inais voice has a hint of sadness in it. She's a bit attached to Midoriya, you know? Like she needs her all the time.
A few seconds pass by as none of us dare to open our mouths. The tension in the air fills my senses in a rather unpleasant way, so I decide to break the silence "Soo... What do your parents think of UA as your future school? Or have y'all asked them yet?"
Kirishima's demeanor instantly lightens, a wide smile spreads across his face, his smile looks like if the feeling of sunlight in the winter had form. He takes his arms off our shoulders. "They love the idea! Well, we've been thinking of ways to make my quirk work safely, but they believe I'll find a way and become a hero!"
"That's amazing, Kiri! And what about you Inai? What does your mother think?" But I'm actually interested in hearing. Her mother is a bit strict ever since her father was killed by past pro-hero Endeavour, because he was a part of a villain league. Inai still believes heroes can be good, even if one of them was flawed.
Inai fidgets with her hands, but puts on a smile. "Weeeell, she might be a little skeptical, but I've convinced her to let me try. She's still trying to change my mind, but I believe I will become a hero!" Her smile becomes more confident and she clenches one hand into a fist. Kirishima pats her back
My buss arrives, Kirishima and Inai are going into the opposite direction so they take a different buss. "Bye guys, see you tomorrow" I say as I step in and wave. There are free seats in the middle of the buss, so I sit on one, press the button on my headphones to turn them om and place them on my head, then I press play on my music and stare out of the window as the vehicle starts moving
Kirishima and Inai wave at me from the window, being the happy fools they are. Usually Midoriya sits next to me on my way home, but now I'm alone. It doesn't bother me that much. One thing starts to get into my thoughts; How about my parents?
I haven't really even thought about what my dads will think, they've made pretty sure I know they're fine with almost whatever, just nothing illegal. But a hero? I have told them many times I won't become one, I found it a bit lame since I grew up surrounded by heroes, although now that I think about it, it does sound pretty cool. Making music does sound cooler nevertheless. Can I somehow mix the two careers? I don't know yet, but I have to find out.
The view from the window is pretty comforting, even if comfort isn't needed. The small town area is a perfect place to live, even if my parents are pro-heroes, or especially because of that. No one's knocking at our door 24/7 because they haven't found out where we live.
The buss screeches to my stop, and I thank the driver as I get out. Seems like father's home since his car is there, but dad's isn't. I call Hitoshi Father and Neito Dad. I like to piss father off by using more formal titles for him.
I walk down the front yard to our door, and gently knock on it. The door opens, but the figure behind it seems rather unfamiliar, and father is nowhere to be seen...
