Work Text:

Sneaking behind Elstri, Helem loosely encircled her arms around her neck, taking a peek at the files on her desk.

"Elly~" Helem called, to no avail.

Her hands slid towards Elstri's shoulders instead, leaning beside her neck, aware that the proximity would elicit a reaction from the other.

But silence was the only thing that filled the room. The usual twist of expression on Elstri's face didn't happen, nor any response. It almost made Helem wonder if she had done anything wrong.

"Elly?" The noirette tried once more, shifting to move beside her. All she got was nothing. It was the same blank face, focused solely on documents. Not even the usual scowl that enveloped her face.

Amusing, yet frustrating. Helem took Elstri's chin between her fingers, moving it to face her. Elstri made an attempt to redirect her head back to the desk, albeit gave up as she realized the taller woman had a firm hold.

Helem met eyes with Elstri, the dull violet ones she always found herself lost in—however quickly snapping out of it as a voice interrupted her thoughts. "State your reason why you insist on acting like a nuisance," the blonde narrowed her orbs.

"Hmm. Must I have a reason to show affection towards my prophetess?" Helem inquired, tilting her head to the side as that same, almost routine smile embraced her lips. Her words merely earned her a scowl from the blonde. *Adorable.*

"I am clearly busy. Bother me another time," Elstri said, grabbing Helem's wrist as she lightly tugged it away. Unfortunately, it stayed in place, earning Helem a dirty glare.

This was getting a bit absurd. Elstri had to swiftly create a plan for their mission, one that wouldn't falter. It has already been years since their previous all-on attack, and truthfully, she came unprepared last time. But this time, it was differ—

"Elstri. You're overthinking again." Helem scolded gently. "Please rest. You have been burdened with excessive thoughts these past few days, and I worry about your well-being."

Perhaps it was also the way Elstri had been more dismissive—but that was something Helem would tease her about another time.

Elstri's expression softened slightly. How could she not relent when Helem gazed at her like that?

"...Fine."

Helem's expression turned smug. "And you refuse to indulge me latel—"

"Shut up."
