“Don’t they knowww… it’s the end of the world.. It ended.. When you said… goodbye.” Shelly finishes chanting to the tune. The song ends, her record player restarting the song again. She leaves the record player playing, exiting her room. As Shelly walks to the living room, she spots only two toons, Astro.. and Vee. They’re cuddled up, on the couch for some reason. Shelly stares at them awkwardly for a good thirty seconds, tilting her head to the side around the ten second mark. Astro finally notices Shelly.
“Is there something wrong Shelly? You’re just.. Standing there.” Vee turns to Shelly as she hears Astro talking, glaring at her. Shelly directs her attention to only Astro, raising her voice to speak, before bitting her tongue when Vee opens her mouth.
“Yeah, I saw her staring at us for around twenty-”
“Thirty.”
“Thirty seconds?” Astro asks. Shelly and Vee both nod.
“Dandy wouldn’t like that.” Astro processes what Shelly told him. She's right, Dandy wouldn’t like that, he would freak out seeing his boyfriend that close to a toon, let alone VEE. Astro barely likes Dandy, but feels bad, that's his best friend. He feels too guilty to break up with him. Vee furrows her brows, she would rather factory reset herself than talk to Dandy again. Speak of the devil..
“Shelly! God.. turn off that racket in your room!” Dandy yells while covering his ears, startling everytoon. He starts to be aware of his surroundings, looking at Astro and Vee.
“Astro. What is the meaning of this?” Astro stares at Vee, then Shelly, then Dandy. He swallows his spit, already predicting every outcome.
“Dan.. V-Vee was just in a bad mood.. I-I wanted to cheer her up.” Astro muttered, stammering with his words. Dandy yells at Astro before asking to speak to him in private. Before Astro follows Dandy, he states something to Shelly.
“Shelly, don’t do this again. Don’t sabotage me again.” Shelly looks at him, appalled. What did she do? She simply stated that Dandy wouldn’t like that. Vee also gets up. She walks up to Shelly, face to face. Vee slaps Shelly. She touches the slap mark, what did she do? Vee just walks away. Shelly feels hot tears welding up in her eyes. She runs to her toon room. Shelly bawls her eyes out as End of the World blasts on her record player. Again, and again.
Tisha walks past Shelly’s room, her record player covering Shelly’s cries. She has walked past her room for a while now, wondering what she’s doing for that song to always be on repeat. It’s a good song, don’t get her wrong, but listening to music that loud for that long is not good for your ears. Tisha stops infront of her room.
“Shelly? Are you okay?” Tisha walks in her room, seeing her on her bed, eyes bloodshot. She runs to her side.
“Shelly! What's wrong? Shells, It's okay.. I'm here for you..” She whispers. Shelly vents to Tisha for a while, how she wants Astro. How Dandy and Vee have him on a chockehold.
“Shelly.. You’ll find someone good I swear!”
“Okay…” She murmured. Tisha leaves Shelly alone. Alone with her thoughts. Shelly gets up and changes the song on her record player, to Why Do I Cry. She isn’t even giving her feelings a chance to die down. Shelly falls asleep, well she more sort of passes out. Maybe dating just isn’t for her, what a hopeless romantic.
