Chapter Text
Lucy had always felt unwanted. She felt invisible in her own home; her parents just didn’t care, leaving her at home while they went on vacation. They had the perfect marriage, but not a perfect family. Strangely, school was her safe place. She had friends she could rely on, was a straight-A student, and was pretty popular. So it was extremely odd when they sat her down after work and delivered the most earth-shattering news like it was nothing.
“Your father and I have decided it would be best to send you to boarding school.”
Lucy’s world turned upside down. She knew her parents didn’t really care whether she lived or died, and to be fair, she didn’t know much about them. But she had always known they were selfish—having a child and not giving her the care and attention she needed, caring more about their reputation than her well-being. She protested, cried, and begged (which she was not proud of), but they cut her off, and she knew there was no hope.
So in a week, she would have to pack up her life and start boarding school.
