  • LWJ makes WWX rest

They were dating for a month, and Lan Wangji knew Wei Wuxian was very busy with the conclusion of his PhD thesis, and because of that, he knew that his boyfriend would not stop to rest. So, he went to Wuxian’s apartment to check on him.

Wangji let himself in with the code Wuxian had given him on their third date and heard his boyfriend in the office, talking to someone.

“A-Xian, you look tired. You need to rest.”

“I can’t, Jiejie. I have too many ideas right now, I need to write them down.”

“But, A-Xian, I worry about you. I’m not there to take care of my Didi. How can I be sure you’re eating and sleeping properly?”

Wangji knocked on the door threshold and spoke softly.

“Wei Ying.”

Wuxian turned his head toward him and smiled brightly, although Wangji could see the marks of lack of sleep under his eyes.

“Lan Zhan! Come here!” Wuxian turned back to his phone while Wangji went to him. When they were both on the screen he introduced him to Jiang Yanli. “Jiejie, this is Lan Zhan! My boyfriend!” He said giddy. “Lan Zhan, meet the best sister in the whole world, my Jiejie, Jiang Yanli!”

“Hello, Lan Wangji. It’s nice to put a face to the name of the person A-Xian has been talking about so much.”

“It is nice to meet you, Jiang Yanli. Wei Ying talks a lot about you too.”

Jiang Yanli smiled at the couple.

“I’ll let you be now. Please, take care of yourself, A-Xian. Or else…”

“Don’t worry, Jiejie. I will. And Lan Zhan will make sure of it! Bye, bye!”

They hung up and Wuxian turned fully to his boyfriend. This word and what it meant still made him all giggly.

“I didn’t know you were coming today, Lan Zhan.”

“Mn. I wanted to see Wei Ying.”

Wuxian melted, leaning on Wangji’s chest. Without talking, Wangji held Wuxian’s hands and made him get up, taking him from the office.

“Where are you taking me, Lan Zhan? Sadly, I have a lot to do yet.”

“Wei Ying can take a 5-minutes break.”

Wuxian chuckled.

“I shouldn’t. But since you’re here.” He shrugged.

Wangji made him lie down on the bed and turned Wuxian over so that he was on his stomach.

“What are you planning, Lan Zhan?” Wuxian asked, trying to make his voice sound sexy, but he just sounded really tired.

Wangji didn’t answer. He only climbed on the bed on top of Wuxian and put his hands on his shoulders, where Wangji kneaded to loosen knots and Wuxian started groaning immediately. He tensed for an instant, but soon Wuxian was languid under Wangji’s hands, relaxing so deeply after days of hard work in front of the computer that in minutes he fell asleep.

Wangji continued the massage until he was certain Wuxian was deep asleep, then he stopped and laid down too to sleep by his side.

The next day, Wuxian messaged his sister to tell her he had had the best night of sleep in his life that previous night thanks to Wangji.

  • LWJ tries spicy food because of WWX

A couple of weeks later, Wuxian finished his thesis, and took two days off to visit his sister. There, he told her all the details about Wangji. How they had met by accident, and it was instant interest in one another from both sides. He told her about their first dates enthusiastically, so full of energy he had been pacing around for a while now.

“The second date I invited him out, Jie. Because he had asked first, so it was my turn.”

Yanli only nodded and smiled.

“I took him to my favorite restaurant, that one that does the best spicy dishes in my neighborhood.”

“Yes.”

Wuxian sat down and laid his head on her lap.

“Our first date was in a coffee shop, so I didn’t know this one detail about Lan Zhan.”

“What detail?” Yanli asked, caressing Wuxian’s hair.

“Lan Zhan can’t eat spicy food, Jie.” He said, shocked with that concept still. “Like nothing! No spicy at all! He can’t handle it.”

“Oh!”

“He didn’t tell me beforehand or when we arrived there. Because Lan Zhan likes to indulge in me. I know that, Jie.” She nodded again. “So, he didn’t tell me and I would never have guessed, so I ordered our food. He let me choose for him. Then, on his first bite he tried to disguise it, but I saw him chocking on the food and his neck went bright red.”

“Oh my!”

“Like… The tips of his ears go red when he is flustered or embarrassed. It’s very cute.” Wuxian strayed from the topic for a bit. “But when he bit on the spices his neck went all red and the redness raised to his face, so I made him stop eating immediately and I gave him water and ordered something plain for him, because I couldn’t let Lan Zhan force himself on something that is not good for him.”

“Of course not.”

“But he tried, just because I love it. And he has tried a few more times, in much smaller doses.”

“He has?” She asked, endeared.

“Yes. Lan Zhan says that if I like it then it must be good, he just needs to build the taste for it. I say he doesn’t need to do it for me. But that is my Lan Zhan.”

“That is very sweet of him, A-Xian. But don’t let your Lan Zhan exaggerate. If he really can’t eat it, he shouldn’t force himself because of no one.”

“I’ll stop him, Jie! For his own good.”

“Yes. You do that.”

She said, smiling, and leaning down to kiss Wuxian on the forehead, making him swoon.

  • LWJ rescues WWX from a bad situation

Wei Wuxian was drunk. He was capital drunk and it was Nie Huaisang’s fault. Half the time, Wuxian didn’t understand how they became friends in the first place. But he liked the indulgent, gossip expert, fun guy.

So, they went out to celebrate something Huaisang wanted to celebrate – Wuxian didn’t remember what, it probably wasn’t important or anything – and now he was incredibly drunk, with an even more drunk Huaisang to care for, and he didn’t know where the heck they were.

It was way too late to call Wangji, Wuxian was sure he was deep asleep considering how dark the sky was. He checked the time on his phone and saw it was almost 4am. In an hour he could call Wangji, Wuxian cheered himself up. Maybe they could wait. Sitting in this dark street. Not one build open for them to wait inside. Wuxian felt shivers go down his back.

“Nah. It’s fine. We’re fine.” He said to himself.

But Wuxian looked at his phone again, and sent a message to his brother, to see if Jiang Cheng was awake. Fifteen minutes later, he still had no answer. He looked around while Huaisang snored on his shoulder. Wuxian pouted, missing Wangji. Right now, all he wanted was to cuddle his boyfriend and drift into sleep himself.

A sound came from the alley meters ahead of them, and Wuxian tensed, shaking Huaisang to try to wake him up.

“Mnmmm.” It was all he got from the other.

Wuxian shook Huaisang again when he saw a shadow moving toward the opening of the alley. And then harder because it was a big shadow. He didn’t even realize when he made a call with his other hand. The noise coming out of the alley increased and a second shadow joined the first one.

“What?” Huaisang groaned, raising his head.

“Finally! We need to move!” Wuxian got up and pulled his friend along.

Part of his brain registered a voice calling for him from somewhere, it was distant, so Wuxian looked at the hand where he had his phone. Only then did he realize he had called Wangji. He put the phone in his ear immediately.

“Lan Zhan~~” He whisper-whined.

“Wei Ying.” The worry in Wangji’s voice was enough.

“Lan Zhan, I’m drunk. With Huaisang. Don’t know where.” Wuxian continued whisper-whining. “There are noises and shadows on the alley.”

“Don’t hang up. I am going to you.”

Wangji and Wuxian had each other’s location always available to be checked on the other’s phone, because there had been another time when Wuxian was with Huaisang and didn’t know where, so they talked and set it up. Wangji put it up while he continued talking to Wuxian, who didn’t want to be left alone with Huaisang.

In the dark street, Wuxian made Huaisang move to a corner far away from the alley in as much silence as two boisterous drunks could. The noise coming from the alley didn’t seem human and that terrified Wuxian almost more than the other option.

If Wangji broke a few transit laws on the way to Wuxian it was for him to know and to deal with later. The important thing was to get to Wuxian. Luckily, he wasn’t far away and Wangji got in the street just in time to see two street dogs coming out from the alley across from Wuxian and Huaisang at the same moment Wuxian saw them and screeched.

Wangji stopped the car between the men and the dogs and kept it running while he went out to help Wuxian in his paralyzing terror. Wangji kissed Wuxian’s forehead and helped him get in the car before he opened the back door to Huaisang. With both secure inside, Wangji went back behind the wheel and drove away.

It was past 5am when they arrived home and Wuxian mumbled a tired apology to Wangji.

“No sorry is necessary between us.”

It was all Wangji said as he helped Wuxian wash up and put him in bed.

The next night, Wuxian had to face a call from both his siblings – who were very concerned about him because he had forgotten to explain to Jiang Cheng about the message at dawn – and he told them how Wangji was his knight in shiny armor.

  • LWJ gives WWX the perfect gift

For their 5-month anniversary, Wangji did long research on what to gift Wuxian. It had to be perfect, because he wanted to ask Wuxian to move in with him and Wangji wanted to make Wuxian feel completely at home.

Space wasn’t the problem, because his apartment was huge – if it had been Wangji’s choice, he would have a smaller one, but he had inherited it from his mother, so he had kept it. However, Wangji was very frugal regarding decoration, where Wuxian liked trinkets and color.

In the last months, Wuxian’s taste had started to take place in Wangji’s apartment, be it because he left things out of forgetfulness or because Wuxian had brought them intentionally; or because Wangji saw something nice that was more in the other’s style and got it.

But now he needed the perfect thing. Something that would make Wuxian consider the apartment as home. And after much research, Wangji thought he had found it.

When Wangji realized it would take time to get it ready, and considering Wuxian stayed in his apartment more often than not, Wangji took his project to Xichen’s place, to do it there.

He worked diligently on the gift and had his brother’s boyfriend help him carry and put it in place on the day of the anniversary. Wangji had to ask Wuxian to wait for him in his own apartment so Wangji could get everything ready.

That evening, Wangji drove to pick Wuxian up and took him to his apartment, where he had prepared dinner for them. Wuxian was elated and complimented every single detail enthusiastically. They ate, Wuxian drank good wine, and they talked and talked.

Wuxian made a point of cleaning the table and dishes when they were done because Wangji had done too much already. Wangji obliged, even though he still helped.

When they finished the cleaning, Wangji took Wuxian by the hands and led him to the balcony. Wuxian had been so focused on Wangji and dinner that he hadn’t noticed the curtains were closed when they were always open.

“Lan Zhan, you did so much already!”

“Wei Ying deserves it.” Wangji said simply, looking into his eyes.

“Ayah, Lan Zhan! My heart can’t take it when you look at me like this!” Wuxian mock whined.

“I love Wei Ying.”

“Ayah, Lan Zhan!” Wuxian whined louder.

“Will Wei Ying move in with me?” Wangji asked bluntly.

Wuxian’s mouth fell open and his eyes went huge. He was speechless. Wangji waited. A minute passed before Wuxian could nod. He didn’t find his words, but the nodding increased in speed and enthusiasm, and Wuxian jumped on Wangji’s arms. Wangji hugged him tight, and they stayed like that for a while.

When Wuxian finally felt stable enough, he leaned his head back to ask a question looking into Wangji’s eyes.

“Do you really want me here 100% of the time, Lan Zhan?”

“Mn.”

“Even when I mess things around?”

“Mn!”

“I love you, Lan Zhan!”

“I love Wei Ying.” Wangji said, kissing Wuxian on the lips. Then he put Wuxian down and opened the curtains.

Wuxian found himself speechless again. In the balcony there was a fountain that reached around his knee in height, and about 50 centimeters in diameter. In the water there were two lotus flowers. Wuxian felt his eyes water.

“Lan Zhan~” He said softly, looking at his boyfriend with his heart in his eyes.

“A corner only for Wei Ying in our little garden.”

“Ayah, Lan Zhan! You will make me cry!” Wuxian jumped on his arms again, hiding his face in Wangji’s neck. There he mumbled. “You remembered.”

“I remember everything about Wei Ying.” With that statement, Wangji took his boyfriend to their bedroom.

On the next day, Wuxian flooded the group chat he had with his siblings, to Yanli’s amusement and Jiang Cheng’s chagrin. He babbled about moving in with Wangji and how incredible his boyfriend was for creating a lotus pond in an apartment because he loved it ever since he was a child.

  • LWJ asks for JYL’s blessing

On a weekend when Wuxian was busy with a work trip, Wangji travelled to visit Jiang Yanli. He had been dating Wuxian for six months, and had only met her in person twice, but he needed to ask her something and that should be done face to face.

Yanli welcomed Wangji into her house with a smile on her lips.

“It’s so good to see you, Wangji. How was your trip?”

“It was good. Thank you.”

Yanli led Wangji to the living room and sat with him.

“I must be honest, I was surprised when you asked if you could visit, Wangji.” Yanli said softly. “But I’m happy you’re here. This way, I can grill you about your intentions with my baby brother.” She joked, but seeing Wangji straighten up, Yanli regretted it a little. “I’m joking. Please, don’t take me wrong.”

“I do not.” Wangji relaxed. “I had an important reason to come. But I’ll answer any question you have regarding Wei Ying.”

“Oh, don’t you worry about that. Tell me what is so important that had you coming here, please.”

Yanli kept her eyes on Wangji, not with a hard expression, just openly waiting. Then she noticed the tip of his ears turning pink and remembered Wuxian telling her it meant he was flustered so she averted her eyes.

“I love Wei Ying.” He said, after a moment.

“Ah, Wangji.” She sighed. “For all I have seen and A-Xian has told me, I know that you do.” Yanli said softly, because it looked like he needed to hear it.

“You are the most important person in Wei Ying’s life.” Wangji looked intently at her and Yanli blushed slightly.

“I think I was that person until he met you.” She smiled and noticed Wangji’s ears become redder.

“I want to marry Wei Ying.” Wangji blurted out.

“Oh! Oh! OH!” Yanli almost jumped to hug him, but she restrained herself and clapped instead. “I’m so happy for the both of you!”

“I did not propose yet.”

“No?!” Yanli tilted her head, then she understood. “Oh my!” She teared up. “You came here to ask me first?”

“Mn.” Wangji nodded deeply. “You are his older sister, and you matter to him the most.”

“Oh, Wangji, I’m flattered.” Yanli blinked repeatedly to try to disperse her tears. “I can’t answer for A-Xian. But I give you my blessing, if that is what you want.”

Wangji gave Yanli a nod and a small smile. She knew that didn’t happen to a lot of people and felt her heart warm up.

“I can’t wait to get a call from A-Xian screaming about the wedding.” She giggled. “I have no doubt he will accept and be beyond happy!  But do it on your own time and terms, Wangji.” Yanli held his hand in hers. “I am very happy to welcome such a sweet and considerate brother to my family.”

Wangji blushed, feeling very flustered.

“Thank you, Yanli. I will take good care of Wei Ying for as long as he will have me.”

“I know you will. You already do.” Yanli let Wangji’s hand go. “Now, why don’t we have some tea and you tell me your plans for the wedding? I want to help.”

“Mn.”

They had tea, then spent the rest of the day together, getting to know each other better. Wangji went back home the next day ready to ask Wuxian to be with him until forever.

After he left, Jiang Yanli calmed her heart, knowing her little brother had found the most perfect match for himself. Wangji was perfect for Wuxian, she was sure of it.

  • JYL sends a stranger her Lotus Soup recipe

They had been dating for a couple of weeks when Wuxian arrived at Wangji’s place and Wangji noticed immediately that he wasn’t well. Wuxian tried to downplay it, making jokes and avoiding the hand Wangji wanted to place on his forehead to see if he had a fever, but he couldn’t fight for long. Wuxian had a sore throat and was running a fever.

Wangji made Wuxian get comfortable in his bed and almost had to force him to take the proper medicine. But, in the end, Wangji was able to even make Wuxian take a nap. In the meantime, Wangji busied himself with the house chores.

During sleep, Wuxian mumbled about lotus root soup and Wangji remembered that was one of the first things he learned about Wuxian – that his sister did the best lotus root and pork soup on Earth and Wuxian was completely addicted to it, and that he missed it after she had moved.

Wangji didn’t know how to do it, but he was willing to learn to make Wuxian happy. Unfortunately, it wasn’t an option to ask his sister to do it because she lived in another city. Wangji was searching for a recipe when Wuxian’s phone pinged with a message. Wangji didn’t read it, but he saw it was from Jiejie. Wuxian’s sister.

After an internal debate, Wangji picked Wuxian’s phone and opened it on the message app.

Hello, I am Wei Ying’s friend, Lan Wangji. He is not feeling well at the moment, and I would like to make Wei Ying his favorite food. Would you be kind enough to share your recipe for lotus root and pork soup, Miss?

Wangji pressed send before he could give up.

The answer came a minute later.

Oh! Please take good care of my Didi!

He talks highly of you, Lan Wangji. Of course, I’ll share the recipe.

Yanli sent very detailed instructions so Wangji wouldn’t miss any detail. If it was simply a stranger asking, she wouldn’t be as thorough, but her A-Xian had been talking so much about his Lan Zhan the last two weeks that se already liked him. And he had asked so he could take care of Wuxian. Yanli would never deny anything that could make Wuxian’s life better.

Wangji thanked her politely and profusely. He ordered what he needed to be delivered fast and took utmost attention while cooking.

Wuxian woke up to the scent of his favorite dish and was confused for a little while. He found Wangji in the kitchen.

“Lan Zhan, why am I scenting Jiejie’s soup?” He asked with a hoarse voice.

“I made it. Wei Ying should eat his favorite food when he is not feeling well. I hope I did it right.”

“Ayah, Lan Zhan!” Wuxian swooned. “You didn’t have to!”

Wuxian said that as he accepted the spoon Wangji gave him and tried the soup from the bowl Wangji was holding for him. Wuxian’s eyes went wide.

“Lan Zhan! It tastes just like Jiejie’s!”

“I am glad Wei Ying approves of my soup.”

Wangji smiled softly, and put the bowl on the table, making Wuxian sit to eat. He observed as his boyfriend cleaned his portion.

“Ayah, Lan Zhan! Now I will always say my favorite food is lotus root and pork soup by Jiejie and Lan Zhan.” Wuxian giggled.

The tips of Wangji’s ears went rosy. By the Lan principles he shouldn’t, but he was proud of himself. Wangji would always be proud of himself every time he made Wuxian happier than he was the moment before. And he would be forever grateful to Wuxian’s sister for giving him such important recipe.

Notes:

The prompt was:
"Fic - LWJ tries to win over JYL, modern au by DrivingMeBonkas"

My thought was: 5 times LWJ takes care of WWX and JYL knows about later, approving of him, and 1 time JYL did something for LWJ that won him over.

This fills my second prompt for the WangXian Gotcha Agains ICE. And it also fills my Established Relationship square on Everyday Fluff Bingo.

Post to share here.
