Work Text:

Rook winced as she felt the sting of antiseptic on her cheek, clasping her hands tightly together in her lap. She was sitting on the edge of his desk, the senior necromancer bent before her, working to tend to her wounds. Rook had gotten into a particularly rough scrap with a horde of darkspawn, which left her with a bruise on her lower lip, and a couple of scrapes on her cheek and arms. She was fortunate enough that she did not break anything, or that she did not require stitches this time.

Emmrich was always there for her to patch her up, insisting on her care even though she knew he did not have to worry himself as much as he did. Emmrich reached for another sterile piece of gauze, dabbing it with cleaning solution to then re-apply it to her cheek once more. "There, now, that should prevent any infection from breeding." He tilted her chin up with his thumb, observing his handiwork against the glow of the fireplace that roared in the background. "If you keep it clean, it should also not leave a scar."

Rook smiled, responding playfully, "But I would look super badass with a face scar!" Emmrich frowned, but then eased his expression when he noticed that Rook had started to giggle. "I must insist that you follow doctor's orders and make sure to keep this clean and bandaged." He reached over to gather some medical supplies for Rook to take with her, placing several gauze pads in a small pouch and placing it in her palms. "There, now let me see that bruise of yours."

Emmrich tilted her chin up once more, his thumb brushing over her lower lip gently to examine the bruise that started to purple. "Does that hurt at all?" Rook blinked, suddenly very aware of the close proximity between them. He hovered only a handful of inches away from her, his familiar scent of evergreen and mint sending her heart racing. She gazed into his eyes for a beat too long, fixated on his warm, hazel eyes, and those beautiful curves of his jawline.

Rook swallowed hard, lightly shaking her head no. Emmrich nodded, still looking at her, though his expression had softened. "Be sure to ice it, that should help alleviate the swelling." Rook nodded, her voice low, "Yes, Professor." She moved to grab her bag of supplies to head out, but Emmrich's index finger hooked beneath her chin, drawing her gaze back to him once more. He leaned forward, lips grazing hers as he placed a soft kiss to the corner of her lips over her bruise. He pulled back ever so slightly, whispering quietly, "There. All better."

Rook blinked, but leaned forward to kiss him once more, her arms hooking around his neck. Emmrich smiled against her lips, arms moving to snake around her back to hold her securely against his chest. Rook murmured softly, "I think I shall need a few more kisses, just to be safe."
