A Daydream of Dolls

Summary:

Q; the Port Mafia have...varying opinions of this strange child. They know they are dangerous, despite their innocent appearance, yet they are unable to figure out where the boss had managed to find such a child - or perhaps monster would be a better word.
The older members would remember the younger two-haired child, stuck by Soukoku's side; how the children would seem more like...children. But perhaps the mafia is not a place for such things.
They broke apart; or maybe they were always broken. A doll, a demon, and a monster.
Or;
Q reminisces on old memories during their capture by The Guild.

Chapter 1: Nox

Notes:

I have not written a fic before, however, I think I owe a little something to Q, my favourite character, who helped me come out as gender neutral, fun fact there!

I do love some good angst, but I promise it'll have happy moments, I swear.

This takes place before Dazai and Chuuya show up to rescue Q from The Guild.

Chapter Text

The first feeling that hit them was pain, their heart palpitating uncomfortably. There was a ringing in their ears, not deafening, yet it pounded on their skull. Or perhaps that was the headache. They were hanging from a basement wall, suspended by twisted vines with little give as they thrashed.

Bile ran up their throat, their stomach turning and flipping. Letting out a shaky breath, they swallowed it down, the bitter taste lingering on their tongue almost trigering the bile to rise once more. Their movements were sluggish, disjointed from their mind and feeling more like noodles than limbs.

The room itself was dark, the end of the room a murky void, the door probably locked. They tried to remember how they got here, but it was a blank; just a blonde man and nothing else.

All they had done was trade one basement for another; a cage for a beartrap. The dull pain pulsed through them, almost unbearable, as if it were razors slicing their skin in onion layers, needles ripping into skin at each touch.

They didn't understand; Why was this happening to me? Why...?

All they had wanted was to be free of that dark room, to be outside, with the sun, the stars, the wind...They hadn't chosen this life. Hadn't chosen this cursed ability.

Tears threatened, but did not spill, no they did not cry. Q...no Yumeno Kyusaku does not cry. They were strong, they could smile, just like he did. He never let anyone see how much he was hurting.

But he isn't here now to save you is he?

Just face it, no-one is coming.

Why would they?

You were just a dangerous asset to them all; you were better confined, locked away like this.

They shook their head as if trying to dislodge their thoughts, their blue hat falling to the floor, barely making a sound as it rolled into a far corner. Another wave of pain washed over them as they felt their mind slipping back into that place.

Perhaps sleep would be their relief; a temporary escape...or just another damnation.
