"I'm in love with you!"
The words tumbled clumsily out of Hachiman's lips, sounding more like a desperate plea than a proper confession. Immediately he regretted it, growing red-faced from the crowd of students staring at him. He saw Saika's shoulders stiffen, but before Saika had the time to turn around and say something potentially dreadful, Hachiman muttered an embarrassed "Shit..." and bolted out of the hallway.
"Wait, Hachiman...Hachiman!" Saika's faraway voice called, but he kept running anyway. What a mess he'd made this time.

Fortunately for Saika, Hachiman was too flustered to have the foresight to run any further than the roof of that same building. It only took him five minutes of asking around to find out.
"...Hachiman?" Saika's voice was gentle, and adorable as always. It almost made Hachiman forget about the panic attack he'd had once he got to the roof. He ran a hand through his hair, trying to look nonchalant.
"Yeah."
Saika sat down next to Hachiman and laid his head on his shoulder. Hachiman tensed.
"You know, when I said I might go out with Jun in class, I was just trying to make you jealous," he spoke softly. "It was really mean and I'm sorry. I just..." He sighed. "I just wanted to know if you liked me too."
Hikki's eyes widened almost comically.
"Wait, what?!" He turned to look at Totsuka's face. "...'Too'?!"
Totsuka did his trademark "cutely look down and away and blush" and Hachiman swore he fell in love all over again.
"Well...yes. I liked you from the start...Hachiman."
"...Say that again."
"I l-like you?" Totsuka looked at him with wide, confused eyes and Hachiman felt his heart trying to jump out of his chest. No one had ever liked him back before. He stared at Totsuka in awe.
"So does this mean..." Hachiman trailed off when he noticed Saika looking up at him expectantly. He swallowed, his throat suddenly dry as a desert, then started again.
"Does this mean we're dating now?" He knew it probably did, but he was still so in shock.
Saika fidgeted with his shorts a little. "If you w-want to."
"Huh."
Hachiman leaned back against the wall and looked up at the sky. He wanted to kiss Totsuka, or hug him at least, but he didn't know how to go about it, and he still wasn't sure this was real. But then he felt a hand interlock with his, and it was soft, and small, and so unbearably cute, and the reality finally hit him. He was Totsuka's boyfriend now.
He raised his free hand to his mouth as he frowned and blushed fiercely, and looked away as Saika giggled.
Jesus. This really was real.
