I Wanted To Score Points

Summary:

Alex checks on Carlos after the Spaniard crashes out of the Australian Grand Prix.

Notes:

Hello all! Apologies about the recent lack of stories. Here is an Alex/Carlos story and this is set in Australia 2025. In this story, Carlos crashes out of the race and is disappointed. Alex goes to check on his new teammate.

Work Text:

The weather wasn't the best in Australia. When Carlos crashed out of the race on lap 2, he knew it wasn't down to the rain. He knew there was an issue with the car.

Carlos was disappointed as he made his way back to the paddock. It was his first race with his new team and he had crashed out early on in the race. He had been hoping to do well given it was the start to a new season. He would have to hope he would have no problems in the next race.

Alex was happy with his race result. He had managed to finish P5. He checked in with his coach after the race who told him that Carlos was okay but disappointed with the crash. Alex had been told about the crash over the radio at the time and he had felt bad for his teammate. He went into the media pen and then returned to the team. Various team members congratulated him on his result.

When Alex noticed that Carlos wasn't at debrief, he was worried. He managed to get through debrief and then went to Carlos' room to check on him. The door was shut when Alex got there and he thought for a moment that Carlos had maybe left. He knocked on the door and waited for a reply. He heard a quiet reply from inside so he opened the door. The room was in darkness but thankfully Alex could still see. Alex peaked his head inside.

“Hey, can I come in?” Asked Alex.

“Sure.”

Carlos stepped into the room and closed the door behind him. He walked over to the massage bed that Carlos was sitting on and sat down next to him.

“I'm sorry about your race.” Said Alex.

Carlos shrugged.

“Its fine, it is what it is.”

“What happened?”

“I had an issue with the car and it made me crash. Everyone keeps saying that it was the rain but it wasn't. I know it wasn't.”

“If anyone knows you like I do, they'll know that you don't crash for no reason. I'm just sorry it happened on your first race with the team.”

There was silence and Alex turned to look at Carlos. The Spaniard was smiling and Alex frowned.

“What?”

Carlos shook his head.

“You never cease to surprise me.”

“What's that meant to mean?”

“You care.”

“Of course I care, you're my teammate.”

Carlos quickly leaned in and kissed Alex. He pulled back and laughed at the look on Alex's face.

“Look, I might be reading this wrong but I can tell that you like me and I like you so why don't we see how this goes?” Asked Carlos.

Alex nodded.

“We'll need to be careful since we're teammates but I think we can make this work.”

Carlos chuckled as Alex nodded again. The Spaniard leaned into Alex and smiled. It hadn't been such a bad weekend after all.
