Subspace slammed the door to the old storage room open. He panted heavily. There was a heavy ringing in his ears, accompanied by the sound of his dangerously rapid heartbeat. Or rather, what was left of his eardrums, due to his rot.
He looked behind him, seeing the the white silhouettes of the useless inphernals he used for experiments. He could only make out the details of one of them, due to his vision blurring in and out of focus. It had some kind of knight help and a cape. Its name was Sword, right?
Whatever. I don't care. Those things are cornering me. I won't allow my death to be this premature.
Subspace looked around the dirty storage room. There were only a few boxes, arcade machines that were turned off, and his old Gamma Bio graft suit. The same suit he used to lure those useless inphernals to their death.
…an idea popped into Subspace's mind.
He rushed to the Gamma suit. He put it on with extreme haste. The suit was wet from the leaking water, and a bit awkward to wear.
Subspace didn't care, though. Whatever gave him a chance at survival.
He turned around. The white ghosts of his experiments stared right at him. But they didn't move, they only stared at Subspace with those soulless black eyes leaking gray tears.
"HAH!" Subspace wheezed out, the suit muffling his voice. "WHAT'S WRONG? RELIVING YOUR PAST, ARE WE? YOU'RE ALL USELESS LITTLE NUISANCES. YOU'RE LUCKY THAT I EVEN BOTHERED TO USE YOU AS MY PLAYTHINGS!"
The ghosts did not respond.
"HELLO? ANY OF YOU GONNA TALK, OR… ARE YOU JUST TOO AFRAID TOO?" Subspace began laughing like the maniac he was.
Then, Subspace saw something odd in his vision for just a split second.
It was hard to make out, but it was some kind of bright lime green.
He didn't have time to process it, though. The suit seemed to turn on by itself. And then, the internal speaker of the suit then said something that sent Subspace into a panic.
WARNING! SYSTEM OVERHEATING! TEMPERATURES REACHING DANGEROUS LEVELS!
The suit began warming up.
What? Why the hell is this thing on?! WHY IS IT OVERHEATING?!
Subspace subconsciously began cursing as he tried to yank off the suit.
WARNING! UNABLE TO POWER DOWN! UNABLE TO OPEN UP SUIT!
"GET THIS THING OFF OF ME!"
The suit felt like it tightened on Subspace's body like some kind of torture device. The heat felt like his skin was being forced to touch a stove top.
"HELP! SOMEONE-" Subspace was thrown into a coughing fit. "SOMEONE HELP!"
But nobody came. He was all alone in this building. The ghosts, or rather the manifestations of his past mistakes, watched. It was impossible to tell what they felt.
The heat was unbearable. Subspace screamed in pain.
Subspace fell to his knees. Eventually, his body fell onto the ground, completely limp. Not a single sound came from his mouth. His body twitched just a little bit.
It's all your fault, Subspace. Had you not been blinded by your own ego, this would have never happened. You could've chosen a normal life, and now look at you.
I hope no one ever ends up as dumb as you.
