Chapter Text
Sam just couldn’t take it anymore. He’s had it with Dean’s outright refusal to name how intense his and Cas’ relationship has become.
“No, Dean, you HAVE to see it by now! How can you not?!” Sam practically yells.
“What is there to see? Cas and I act like any other regular friends do!” Dean replies, he’s seemingly appalled.
Sam scoffs “Yea, because staring at each other for a whole two minutes is normal, you barely even blinked!” Sam raises an eyebrow.
Dean rolls his eyes. “That was ONE time, and besides, I think you’re just jealous that I have a better relationship with him than you do. Where's YOUR buddy at Sam, huh?”
Sam sighs, pinching the crease at the bridge of his nose. “It was not just one time…Also, I’m not jealous, but Cas is my friend too, and you really haven’t given me much of a chance to hang out with him, you’re always finding excuses to get him to spend time with you, and ONLY you Dean.”
Dean scoffs, turning away from Sam. “It’s not like I’m keeping him from you Sam, by all means, hang out with him whenever you want!”
Sam smirks “Really? You don’t have some search for a solo hunt that just so happened to be a two man job on your calendar reserved for Cas today or somethin’? Even though I told you there were no cases available? ”
Dean hasn’t really been paying attention, but lately he can recall hanging out with Cas more than usual, late night movies, a quick case that only needed one man, but he wanted Cas to tag along anyways, even shopping trips. What can he say? Cas is his best friend after all! However, he still thinks Sam is being over dramatic.
Dean rolls his eyes again, beginning to walk out of the room, visibly done with this conversation, waving Sam off as he does.
“Go rob a bank with him for all I care, I’m going for a drive.” Dean heads off towards his room to get the Impalas keys.
Sam holds a smirk on his face as he watches Dean leave. At that moment, a cartoonishly looking lightbulb appears over Sam’s head (no not really) but he does have a good idea worthy enough of that effect.

An hour later, Dean comes back. With his hands full. He turns the bunkers door knob and steps inside, trying his best to close it behind him without dropping the bags in his hands.
Sam is at the war room table, his laptop open and some books and newspapers scattered around him. It’s a lot messier than usual.
“Woah, did a tornado pass through while I was gone or something Sam?” Dean quips, a hearty smirk plastered on his face as he makes his way down the stairs.
Sam scoffs, closing his laptop. Then he raises an eyebrow at the bags in Dean's hands.
“Whats that?” He asks, pointing to the bags.
Dean smiles, almost proud, then he sets down the bags on the table, taking out the contents of them.
Dean pulls out 3 pies first. “We ran out of pie, I remembered while I was driving that we’ve been needing another grocery run, and don’t even start because I got your rabbit food here as well.” Dean tosses one of the bags at Sam, rolling his eyes in the process.
Sam sighs, shaking his head. “Did you get any other real food for yourself? Or just pie?”
Dean straightens his back in a defensive manner, “As a matter of fact, I did!” Then he digs through one of the bags and pulls out a few ground beef trays, some mustard, a bag each of hot dog and hamburger buns, and a couple packages of hot dogs.
Sam smirks “Where's the fruit? The vegetables?”
Dean winces, looking almost disgusted by what Sam had just said. “Ew, no Sam. That stuff is for you, I got my meat, that's all I need, also, we got ketchup in the fridge and that stuff is made of tomatoes, so shut your mouth.”
Sam puts his hands up in mock surrender, going back to reading whatever it was that he was reading before.
Dean squints, eyeing the book in Sam’s hands. “Weren’t you going to go hang out with Cas or something? You were just bitching about how you never get to hang out with him.”
Sam shrugs “I texted him, we made plans for later, he’s busy right now.”
Dean nods, trying to ignore the familiar feeling of jealousy rising in his throat.
Dean clears his throat “What uh, what kind of plans? You taking him bank robbin’ like I suggested earlier?” He smiles a little, trying to lighten his mood by throwing some humor into this dry conversation.
Sam, not looking up from his book, hands Dean his phone. “Here, read for yourself, I need to focus.”
Dean raises an eyebrow before taking the phone and opening the messages app.

Sam: Hey Cas, if you’re not busy I was wondering if you’d wanna do something? Deans out doing his own thing. I thought maybe we could talk as well?
Cas: Sure Sam, maybe later though? I’m currently busy.
Sam: Sounds good, do you have any specifics? Any favorite activities since you’ve been on Earth?
Cas: I don’t suppose so, you can choose if you’d like.
Sam: Got it, do you like movies?
Cas: Yes, I find movies very intriguing, although I do not have any suggestions, if you were going to ask.
Sam: Alright, I’ll just pick one that looks good, see you soon :)
Cas: Thank you Sam, see you soon as well :)

Dean smiles at Cas’ replies, they’re so dorky and so very Cas.
He hands the phone back to Sam, who puts it back into his pocket.
“Cool, so you’re going to see a movie then?” Dean doesn’t know why he’s dragging this conversation on longer than necessary, but he just won’t shut up. He mentally curses himself.
Sam nods “Yep, haven’t decided on a movie yet though, gonna do that in a few minutes.”
Dean nods again, then looks down at his pies, deciding to go put them in the fridge.
“Okay then…Good luck with that, I'm just gonna go to my room now…yea.”
Sam nods, not really paying attention to Dean anymore.

About a half hour later, Sam came to tell Dean that he was leaving to go to the movie with Cas.
Dean told him to have fun, then Sam left.
He didn’t really do much while he was in his room. He decided that maybe he should watch his own movie, so he put on one of his classic favorites, Tombstone, but that didn’t really help, to be honest, it only made him think of Cas more. God, the angel was always on his mind lately, he found it strange, and often tried to push it aside, or throw a “I’m worried about my best friend” label on it and call it a day, but not today…apparently, he was jealous, or bored, or maybe a combo of the two. He found it pretty pathetic to feel jealous of his own brother hanging out with Cas.
Dean decided to grab a beer from the fridge in the kitchen, so he left his room to do just that.
When he made it to the kitchen, he opened the fridge and pulled out a beer, cracking the top off and taking a swig. He made it half way back to his room, before he decided to hang out in the Dean cave. He sat down on the couch, the cold beer in his hand.
Geez, he really was bored…He thought about finding a case, but he had also just asked Sam about that this morning, and all across the states it was dry and barren of the paranormal, which he found odd, but thought that maybe it was a good opportunity for a day off, maybe even hang out with Cas and teach him some human things, which he’s grown to love doing, but now since that idea was crossed off the non-existent list, he didn’t know what to do. He already thought about cleaning or cooking, then brushed that off pretty quick, he was gonna cook later anyways.
He ended up going back to the movie playing in his room.
