Chapter Text
“Take your little friends… AND GO HOME!” Lucifer yelled.
Lute stared in utter defeat before rising into the sky, golden blood pouring from every inch of her, and fled. Lucifer turned to his daughter and her friends, a smile on his face as his demon form dissolved back to normal.
“So, who’s up for pancakes?” He chuckled.
Charlie smiled, and hugged Vaggie. She was still in her demon form, Lucifer noticed.
“Uh, Charlie, sweetie, you can go back to normal now.” He said, “The fight’s over.”
Charlie furrowed her brow, clenching her jaw for a moment.
“...How?” She asked
Lucifer opened his mouth, and stopped. He’d never really thought about it. His demon form just appeared or vanished whenever he wanted it to, it wasn’t really even a conscious thought.
“Uh, well, you just kind of… do it?”
Charlie closed her eyes and breathed several times slowly, but her horns, and her arms, which had turned black, with red energy pulsing through them, remained the same.
“That’s odd.” Lucifer mused. “But I’m sure it’s no big deal! You’ll be back to normal by tomorrow once we’ve all had a chance to calm down.”
“Thanks, Dad.” Charlie sighed, turning to survey the ruin of her hotel.
One musical number, and an undetermined amount of time later, they had completed the brand new, and improved Hazbin Hotel. Charlie had still yet to exit her demon form. Lucifer frowned as he watched his daughter excitedly skip around the Hotel lobby, greeting the many Sinners who had arrived at the new Hotel. She seemed fine, but this wasn’t normal. It was of course the first time she’d truly utilized any of her true power, so maybe her body is just getting used to it? He grunted. It still wasn’t sitting well with him.
“Lucifer.” The soft voice echoed in his mind. A voice he hadn’t heard in 10,000 years
“Sera?” He said aloud as he nearly choked on his own spit.
“Yes.” The High Seraphim replied. “I was hoping to never speak to you again-”
“Way to make a guy feel appreciated.” Lucifer rolled his eyes as he spoke back telepathically. “I tried calling a few times, but the great chasm fixed between us seems to cause some interference on my end.” He joked.
“That was the point.” Sera said flatly. “But these are extraordinary circumstances. It seems that your daughter’s project…” She paused. “Works.”
Lucifer had to catch himself on the railing of the balcony.
“Hold on, what!?”
“The snake she was friends with. He is here. Sir Pentious, I think is his name.”
Lucifer couldn’t seem to remember him. Not surprising. The Sinners were so far beneath him that remembering their names was pointless. Why would he keep track of the names of what might as well have been Charlie’s pet rock collection? Maggie- no, Vaggie, he chided himself- by merit of being Charlie’s girlfriend, and a former Exorcist, was elevated to “acknowledge her existence” but beyond her, the insufferable bellhop, and one other, why bother?
“Well, I’m sure Charlie will be happy to hear that.”
“Emily has been begging me to let her go in person, but I don’t think she’s ready.”
“Who?”
“Ah, yes, you never met Emily. She is my younger sister. Well, technically your younger sister as well. She was… your replacement, so to say.”
Lucifer bristled at the idea of being replaced, but was intrigued nonetheless.
“Send her down!” He smiled, “I assure you no harm will come to her. She’ll do a better job of remembering to tell Charlie than I will.”
“If she comes back, and you’ve been filling her head with lies, I will come down there myself and tear you limb from limb.” Sera said, her voice low.
“Still uptight as ever cygnet.” Lucifer chuckled.
“Don’t call me that.”
“No promises.”
The telepathic talk ended, and Lucifer returned his attention to Charlie, who was now sitting next to her girlfriend on one of the couches. She was eating what looked to be a raw steak. That was certainly odd…
