Work Text:

Sunlight flittered in through the window blinds, casting soft beams of light onto the large, king sized bed. The bed itself was draped in soft weighted blankets, in different shades of black and blues.

Slowly, Cecilia began to stir as the beams of light grew, cracking her eyes open and finding herself face-to-face with her wife.

She smiled softly and moved her hand up to gently caress Rook's cheek, watching its eye twitch in its sleep. Warmth bloomed in her chest, scooting just a little bit closer to her.

Cecilia had always thought that Rook was beautiful, no matter what she was doing. Even with mud on its face from falling off its horse, even with tears running down its cheeks after an especially emotional movie. She had always firmly believed that Rook was beautiful.

Especially now, her face relaxed in sleep, did she find Rook beautiful. She would just lay here and stare at her for the rest of the day if she could.

But, duty called.

Slowly, Cecilia sat up, stretching her arms above her head. She felt a weight around her waist, and spotted Rook's arm wrapped around her, lifting up as she sat up.

Rook stirred, grumbling softly. It didn't hate things often–finding the word hate to be a stronger word than it normally like–but it hated mornings more than anything. It quite enjoyed sleep, and now that Cecilia slept next to it every night, it wanted to stay in bed with her for longer.

"Rook, my dear," Cecilia cooed, gently grabbing Rook's wrist. "Please let me go, I need to make us breakfast."

Rook shook her head, cracking her eyes open to look at Cecilia. Her eyes held nothing but admiration, even as she was clearly irritated that she had to wake up.

"Cece...don't leave yet..." She mumbled, gently grabbing at Cecilia's pajamas. "Just five more minutes...?"

Cecilia chuckled softly. When Rook said 'five more minutes', it more than often meant it wanted to stay in bed with her for another hour. She took a moment to think, watching Rook's lips curl into a small pout.

"Pleaseeeee...my love..." It whined softly, tugging at her pajamas.

Cecilia had to keep herself from laughing. Rook was much different when she first wakes up. She was always a bit clingy–which Cecilia didn't mind at all–and she was even more clingy in the mornings.

"Mmm...I suppose. For a bit longer." Cecilia said as she laid back down, immediately pulled into Rook's arms.

She buried her head into Rook's chest, and let out a soft sigh. She couldn’t deny her dear Rook, it seemed.
