Work Text:

For many years, Sunoo had said that his tolerance for alcohol was really high. And it was true. Every time he drank, he could feel slight changes in his body, his ears would get warm and red, as would his cheeks, he would start to feel hot and laugh more. But he remembered everything, and he was happy to be able to laugh about what had happened the night before in front of all his bandmates.

But there was something about the sake he drank that knocked him out.

It was only 6 p.m. when Sunoo, Jay, and Heseung entered the recording set of Hyell's Club. Waiting for them there was the charming Lee Hyeri, a very famous singer and actress, who welcomed them with what would be Sunoo's downfall: sake.

Sunoo's confidence was a reminder of the fall from grace he would experience upon arriving at the dormitory. As he drank and boasted about his drinking abilities, he gradually began to feel the usual effects, his face turning red and becoming increasingly cheerful in front of the others.

Sunoo couldn't say he had a bad time either. He laughed at his hyungs, shared TMI that no one could have imagined, taught Hyeri how to take better selfies, and complained about society (a very T moment).

The worst came after that.

When the recording ended, Sunoo knew he was doomed. His legs were cramping as if he had run 12 miles, and his eyes felt so heavy that he had trouble keeping them open every time he blinked.

His friends were just like him, more so Heeseung than Jay, who made sure they were okay in the van on the way back to the dorms.

Jay sighed as he read the last message. Sunoo was beside him as he tried to explain to Heeseung why he no longer wanted to be support in League of Legends when they played together.

“I'm telling you, I always play support and make you win, but you always take the credit,” Sunoo said, throwing his head back and closing his eyes, starting to feel dizzy.

“Sunoo-yah. You always play support because you like to use twink characters like Seraphine or Nekko,” sighed Heeseung, closing his eyes too but laughing at Sunoo.

Sunghoon sat on his bed, thinking seriously that he had never had to witness a drunk Sunoo (damn drunk) let alone take care of him in that state.

Quickly after being lost in thought for about 5 minutes, he mustered up the courage to put on his hoodie and go downstairs to wait for his boyfriend.

And there he was... Trying to casually get out of the van while laughing at something Heeseung was drunken mumbling because you couldn't understand anything he was saying anymore.

Sunghoon sighed, closing his eyes and staying calm, and letting out a small laugh after hearing Sunoo complain to Jay for bringing him to his dorm and not leaving him with the beautiful Hyeri.

“Sunghoon hyung!” Sunoo said with a smile, staggering in front of him as he flashed a beautiful smile, puffing out his red cheeks. “Jay hyung wouldn't let me keep talking to Hyeri.”

And then, Sunoo cried.

And it wasn't just any crying, it was fake. No tears in sight. No frown. A terrible performance.

Sunghoon laughed softly and, with strength gained from his grueling and extensive hours at the gym, lifted him up, carrying him as if he were a bride.

“Come on, Sunoo-ya,” he whispered into his hair. “You can talk to Hyeri-sunbaenim another day.”

He carried him into the dorm, followed by Jay and Heeseung, saying goodbye at the entrance to the first floor, where they lived. Sunghoon held Sunoo in his arms as the elevator went up to the second floor, where the pocketz and Jake lived.

“Sunoo-ya. We're here, love, don't sleep. We still have to wash you.” And yes, Sunghoon was still a clean freak, and that meant being one with his boyfriend too.

In the two years they had been together, their routines had meshed as if they were meant to be done together. While Sunghoon kept his clothes neat and clean along with his personal appearance, Sunoo was the skincare fairy, organizing it and giving Sunghoon tips on how to improve according to his skin type.

That's why their nighttime routines were just that, routines. They followed an order and treated those moments as acts of love that gave them a warmth that no one else could provide. Sunghoon loved watching Sunoo with his face masks on and, why not, putting one on himself. And Sunoo loved watching Sunghoon fold his clothes and helping him with his.

It really was a dream relationship.

Sunoo, half awake, could only nod as Sunghoon placed him on the edge of his bed, sitting like a little doll with his eyes closed.

He could hear Sunghoon moving around the room, opening and closing drawers and moving glass jars that sounded loud to Sunoo.

Suddenly, he felt Sunghoon crouch down in front of him, wiping cotton pads all over his face with what Sunoo guessed was micellar water. His movements were gentle, wiping the cotton pads over his eyes, cheeks, and everywhere else he had makeup on, leaving him with a clean face.

"I need you to stand up slowly, love. You're going to take a quick shower." Sunghoon slowly led him to the bathroom, smiling as he watched Sunoo pretend not to be drunk, but he wasn't even talking anymore, just letting his boyfriend move him and take care of him.

“Mmhm okay. Not too cold and no—”

“Not too hot, I know, honey.” Sunghoon laughed, watching a small pout appear on Sunoo's lips as he struggled to take off his shoes and pants.

Sunghoon helped him with that, taking off his clothes too to shower with Sunoo. After all, this was their nightly routine.

Once in the shower, Sunoo turned his back to Sunghoon, receiving in response a hair wash that felt like a scalp massage with the slow movements of Sunghoon's hands in his boyfriend's hair.

The shower ended quickly amid kisses and words of love that Sunghoon whispered to Sunoo, and even though it wasn't a shower with any hidden purpose, it had been an intimate and vulnerable moment for both of them. Sunoo was very drunk, and Sunghoon was too sleepy for anything else.

Wrapped up like a little burrito, Sunoo got out of the shower followed by Sunghoon, who took care of drying every part of his boyfriend's body.

“Coconut oil or chamomile oil?”

Sunoo yawned and pointed to the chamomile oil. “My eyes feel too heavy, I'm never drinking sake again,” he pouted as Sunghoon spread chamomile oil all over his body.

Sunghoon laughed but looked at him with admiration. To him, Sunoo was the most precious thing he had, and he loved him so dearly that sometimes he didn't know how to express it without seeming obsessed.

He knew the fans had already noticed how he held his breath when Sunoo was next to him or how he stuttered when Sunoo looked at him with those beautiful eyes of his.

And honestly, Sunghoon couldn't care less.

Obviously, what engene said was important, but Sunghoon was already with Sunoo, two years that seemed much longer with everything they had been through and all the mutual pining there had been at the beginning. Sunghoon couldn't have asked for a better love story.

He let his thoughts drift away as they each put on their pajamas. All the while, a comfortable silence enveloped them in an atmosphere that was too homely and full of love.

They sat on the edge of the bed as Sunghoon began to carefully apply the night creams that Sunoo used, making sure his hands were gentle on his boyfriend's doll-like face.

Sunghoon wasn't used to talking much. Since he was little, he had been a bit more introspective than other children. He wasn't particularly introverted, but he liked to keep quiet so he could do things his own way.

And that's how he had been until he met Sunoo.

He talked a lot, laughed a lot, and to top it all off, he spun around like a damn fairy. Everywhere.

And suddenly, Sunoo filled Sunghoon's silent spaces with sound.

Actually, it wasn't that sudden. Sunoo infiltrated Sunghoon's mind little by little, and Sunghoon didn't realize it until his now-boyfriend's name was all over his mind. And from there, Sunghoon learned a new way to do things better without being silent. He learned to improve thanks to Sunoo's voice, laughter, whispers, and kisses.

Suddenly, he was no longer silently watching and noting what to improve in his dance practices, because he had Sunoo by his side, laughing and telling him how well he danced. He no longer did his cleaning routines alone, because he had a grumpy Sunoo by his side complaining about cleaning but with a slight smile on his face.

Sunghoon didn't even have to learn to love Sunoo, he just did because it felt like the easiest thing he had ever had to do in his entire life. Loving him felt easy, and he liked that.

And since Sunghoon didn't talk much, he loved him with small acts that, while trivial to most, meant everything to Sunoo.

That was his way of loving him, doing things he never thought he could do, such as taking care of him when he was drunk.

Or so he thought, as he lay down next to Sunoo, who was already sighing in his sleep from exhaustion and drunkenness, and decided he wouldn't change that plan for anything in the world.

Because sometimes, silent love was the most noticeable of all.
