Work Text:
There are some days where he would like to believe things were back to normal. It was amazing to think that maybe, just maybe he had beaten it, that he was okay. Of course, life had other plans for him. Megumi had learned the hard way that even if your day starts off amazing, it could end in shit.
This week was one of the worst in a while, and it was times like these when he had no choice but to ask for help. Now, don't get him wrong, he's not a sissy or whatever, but Gojo always told him that asking for help is the right thing to do. It doesn't change the way he was raised, but it did help him get through the day knowing that he has someone to reach out to, even if he didn't. Just the thought of someone being there for him was comforting.
This particular day though, it was not enough.
He was laying in bed, hyper aware of the itching and the healing scabs on his forearm and wrist. Things never did change, did they? It was always Megumi running to Gojo or Yuji or everyone being too scared to leave him on his own. Like he was some sort of fragile thing.
Not that they were wrong...It just upset him that he couldn't live a normal life.
Sure, things were usually okay for him, and sometimes he even has amazing days, weeks even, where he is able to get out of bed and live his life. Megumi was restless to say the least, he couldnt stay still. He was tired but he didn't want to sleep. Kind of like when you want to stay in bed forever but you can't force yourself to because you really need to pee. He stumbled out of bed, shirtless as he usually slept and sunk to the floor. He was feeling too lazy to even stand up.
Megumi groped the floor space around his bed in an attempt to find a shirt to cover his warm skin. He sighed in annoyance when he failed to find one.
Standing up with a frustrated cry, he turned his light on and his eyes scanned the floor.
Nothing.
Megumi didn't wash his clothes on wash day this weekend. This meant that he had no shirts and only the sweats he was wearing. Thank God there was no school this week. After a few minutes of staring at nothing, he begrudgingly, grabbed a blanket from his bed and opened his door. It was pretty late at night and the only sound was coming from Gojo's open door. Which he was going to have to walk right past to get to the laundry room where all of his soon-to-be-washed clothes were.
It was a habit that the elder kept after he had caught Nobara sneaking out to meet her girlfriend. It's not that he had a problem with it, he just worried for them.
Almost like a dad would worry for their child.
"Fucking hell," Megumi sighed as he turned back to his dorm. This was a problem for another day. He was already irritated and he was not having it. If he can't have a good night, he should at least be allowed to give his clothes a good night. He's sure that they would love to be clean too and be folded up nice and neat. Yeah. That sounded nice and calming. It sounded like a good "coping mechanism," as Gojo liked to lecture him about
Megumi stood in the hallway, trying to decide if he should make his clothes happy or let them suffer like him. He must've stood there for a while because the he swore the intro to Gojo's anime has just played, but it sounded like the outro was playing now.
"Yooo, Megumi?" An annoying voice rang through the corridor. Megumi scowled.
It seems like he got his answer, he'd be making his clothes happy. He walked past his mentor without a single word; It was embarrassing enough that he wasn't wearing a shirt, and even more so that he had lied straight to his face earlier.
The student knew that if he stopped for a conversation that he'd most definitely notice that something was up. So he walked right by him. There was no turning back, it was too late now anyways. He prayed that Gojo wouldn't follow him to the laundry room, but of course, his prayers are never heard because before Megumi could walk more than two steps, he was right in front of him.
Again, right in front of him, up in his face too. This guy really had no sense of personal space.
