Link was trying his best to continue on after freeing Faron from the beast in the temple, but he was dreading his next step the closer he got to the Eldin province. Suddenly, the imp that had latched onto him jumped out of his shadow.
“What’s your problem?! We need to hurry to find that next fused shadow! Don’t you want to save your friends?”
Though Link didn’t particularly like Midna, she did have a point. However…
“I just… If I pass through the curtain of darkness-”
“Twilight.” The creature growled.
“If I pass through it, I’ll become that monster again, won’t I?”
Suddenly, though only for a second, Midna’s face seemed to soften. She looked away quickly with a scoff.
“I don’t know why it’s such a big deal. Wolves are noble creatures. You should be proud.”
“The people of Ordon, my own family, were terrified of me. I don’t want to go through that again.”
Midna turned back to him with a glare. “At least you’re not–!” She took a deep breath, “You won’t be visible to the spirits in the Twilight, and when you return the light spirit, you’ll probably be free of the form anyway.”
“Probably?!”
“I don’t know! Why would you think I would know about that kind of thing?!”
She had a point, again. Link had forgotten that even though Midna was abrasive and rude, she was just as much out of her depth as he was, or at least that’s what it seemed like. And she did seem to be trying to comfort him, so she can’t be all bad.
“Sorry, thanks for talking me through that.”
“... Whatever, just hurry up.” Midna quickly returned to his shadow, though Link noticed that her usual bite was completely gone. He smiled and continued towards the dark wall blocking his next destination.
