Condor Point

Summary:

Capture the flag, Ops vs Rangers edition.

Notes:

For Hearts and Sparks Ship Week's spring edition, filling the prompt: Feb 23: Hobby / Games

Somehow, Maggie became part of Jazz's black ops team in this AU, but I don't know how. I'm not complaining, though.

Work Text:

“Okay, so we’ve got the plan together.” Jazz tapped one claw on the map and looked up to Mikaela and Maggie. “You two have your gear?”

“Yessir!” Maggie held up a bag and Mikaela nodded.

“All right. You two take off now and we’ll meet at Condor Point tomorrow night. But don’t hesitate to ping me if one of the others finds you before then.”

“You got it, Jazz.” Mikaela stood up and moved to give him a quick hug. “Give ‘em hell for us.”

“You know it, babe.”

-_-_-_-

Ironhide put a finger down on the map and drew a quick line along the path he thought Jazz was likely to take. “They are most likely going to make for the river, to try and throw off my sensors with the water. If we circle around, whe should be able to intercept them at the water, before they can hide in the woods.”

“I dunno, Hide.” Will shook his head. “What if they make for Condor Point or the quarry instead?”

“Neither location has enough cover to hide from my sensors.”

“Yeah, but if they know you’re counting on that?”

Ironhide grumbled something neither human could understand. Then Bobby spoke up. “No, I think Lennox is right. They’re going to anticipate you anticipating the river. They’re putting their base somewhere else. And if I had their sector, I’d use Condor Point.”

“Are you certain?” Ironhide asked. “We will only have once chance to cut them off before their flag is planted.”

“Oh yeah, dead sure.” Epps nodded.

“Then we make for Condor Point.”

-_-_-_-

“Hey guys!” Maggie grinned as Epps and Lennox stepped out of the dark and into the warmth of their campfire. She even held out a stick with a marshmallow on it to them. “You’re just in time for s’mores!”

“Or hot dogs. We’ve still got some left in the cooler,” Mikaela added. “Where’s ironhide?”

“Looking for where you hid the flag,” Lennox said, lowering his water gun and moving to one of the open seats next to the fire.

“Oh he’s never finding that.” Maggie laughed and handed him the stick as he sat down.

“What do you mean?” Epps joined him a minute later.

“Because it’s not here.”

“But yours is,” Jazz said with a merry laugh as he stepped into the firelight as well, bright blue flag dangling from his fingers.

“Dammit, Jazz!” Ironhide cried from the darkness.

Jazz grinned as Mikaela lifted her hand for a high five.

“So where’d you hide it?” Lennox finally asked after a few moments.

“If we told you, we’d have to find a new spot next time.” Maggie shook her head. “Nice try, though.”
