Work Text:
"So, this is where your grandma lives, huh?" Azure asked as they followed Sunny through the front gates.
"Yep, the old family estate," Sunny half-joked.
Since they were both (finally) given a lengthy period of time off work, Sunny thought this would be a good opportunity to show Azure around the mystery's centerpiece.
And Azure came fully prepared -- along with some standard three-day vacation luggage, they had a backpack full of notebooks, a lightstick, and a camera all ready to go. Sunny had joked before they left that they seemed more ready for the investigation than she did.
"I should go find Grandma and let her know we arrived," Sunny declared as they walked inside the house. "Go ahead and get comfortable in the meantime. She's got two spare rooms down the hall. I was gonna give you the one on the left."
"I'm cool with that," Azure agreed, as they made their way down to the room they'd be staying in to unpack.
From the moment they closed the door, though, they were immediately jumpscared by the presence of two unfamiliar feminine people sitting on the bed, gazing lovingly into each other's eyes.
What the--?!
Sunny didn't tell me there was anyone else here!
Wait a minute...
Have they...noticed I've walked in yet?
"Um, hello," Azure greeted them awkwardly. "Sorry to intrude. Didn't realize anyone else was here. Are you friends with Sunny or their family?"
Neither responded, though the one with paler skin did turn to face them, the smile remaining tattooed on her face.
Okay, weird. She's not blinking.
Why is she looking at me so...intently?
I mean, usually when I keep a tight focus on something, it's cause I'm trying to figure something out...
...Does she WANT me to figure something out?
Azure glanced over the mystery woman from top to bottom, until her eyes landed on her necklace, which had the name "SOPHIE" written on it.
No. Fucking. Way.
"Sophie?!" Azure said in one breath, air knocked out of her lungs from the shock.
Sophie nodded and returned to facing the other woman. Azure immediately pulled out her camera and began recording them.
There are ghosts in my guest room. There are ghosts in my guest room! THERE ARE GHOSTS IN MY GUEST ROOM!
This is the coolest thing that's ever happened to me!
Wait till I tell Sunny! They're gonna freak out!
As she recorded, Sophie and the other woman seemed to giggle about nothing, before moving closer together, wrapping their arms around each other. The other then kissed Sophie's cheek, causing her to giggle again.
Aww, they're together!
This is so wholesome! They must've been, like, the perfect couple when they were alive.
Just as they were thinking this, the couple suddenly faded off, like that was all they were giving Azure permission to see.
At the same time, Sunny knocked on her friend's door, which they opened.
"Hey! Did you unpack okay?"
"Oh, uh...sorry. I got distracted from that," Azure sheepishly admitted.
Sunny cocked their head. "By what?"
Azure held up her camera. "I'll show you! Be ready to have your mind blown!"
