Linger

Summary:

Jean-Luc Picard lingers in his holodeck simulation of Arendelle.

Notes:

Day 12 prompt: linger

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Jean-Luc slowly walked along the Arendelle harbor. Part of his mind knew very well that this was a holodeck simulation, but it felt so very real, and it was easy to let himself believe that he was really here in this world, and simply linger in the market, or better yet, find the queen again and linger with her.  She always had some delicacies to share, and she found his advice on statecraft very useful.

The nagging part of his mind pushed forward again to remind him that the computer knew very well what he liked, and a queen needing his advice on dealing with foreign dignitaries would be guaranteed to flatter him far more than many more traditional attractions would.

Of course, he didn’t mind the traditional attractions, either.  Elsa certainly posessed them.

“There you are!” her voice rang across the market square. “Jean-Luc, I’ve been looking for you!”

“Your Majesty, my apologies!” he said with a small bow.

“Oh, please, Jean-Luc, if you insist on addressing me that way, I’ll be forced to call you Captain.”

Jean-Luc smiled. “Of course, Elsa.”

She extended his hand, and he took it and kissed it.

“Where shall we go now?” he asked, noticing that the computer had decided that it was sunset soon.

“There is a lovely view from the clocktower, and I would be delighted if you would accompany me.”

Notes:

I continue to enjoy using the holodeck to justify writing a Frozen crossover.
