Work Text:
On the rooftop, the two sat together, leaning on each other and watching the stars above. Badware was trying not to overheat, fans running on maximum as they moved slightly closer to Killdroid, grabbing their hand and holding it tightly- a bit too tightly. "Y'know.. I love you." The computer-headed robot finally spoke out, tired of hiding how they truly feel. "And I want to know, since tomorrow is valentines day, would you perhaps like to go on a date, my love?" It continued, displaying a happy emoticon on their screen.
Killdroid tried to conjure up a response, but faltered, blurting out "{A-alright!]", stuttering for the first time in who knows how long. "[I suppose it could work.]"
"Aw.. you.." Badware muttered, and got up, before speaking again. "How does 8pm tomorrow sound, eh?"
"[Again, I suppose it could work.]"
"Hell yeah! >:D" Badware ran off excitedly, already making plans. "Meet me up here at 8 tomorrow, then!" Their words could not express how.. excited, overjoyed even, they felt. But one thing is wrong, they have no experience with romance, or dates! How would this work out?
"Oh shit..! I just realized, how do I do this?!" Badware stopped in their tracks, glancing down in embarrassment. "Does he even love me to begin with? Gah... I need advice.."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Artful heard a knock at the door, a loud one. "Hein ? Qu'est-ce que tu fais ici?!"(Huh?! What are you doing here?) He opened the door, swinging it so fast that he swore it'd fall of the hinges- but he didn't care. The magician looked Badware up and down, as they held a singular daisy in one hand, pushing their sunglasses atop their monitor in the other, and displaying an awkward expression. The daisy was fresh from the garden, still having dirt on it.
"I need dating advice." The robot confessed, kicking their feet back and forth awkwardly, and letting out a pre-recorded sighing sound. "I asked Killdroid out on a date..."
"Ah, I see." Artful responded, motioning for them to come in. "Come inside, I shall answer any questions you may have, though I am not an expert."
Inside, Badware and Artful sat together at the end of his bed, discussing romance.
"So, how do I get him to like me?" Badware questioned, leaning towards Artful with a confused expression displayed, and passing the daisy to him.
Artful paused at the question. Truth was he didn't know either. Never been in a relationship, never had many friendships to begin with, so it was hard to give advice on something he had no idea on, and no experience with. So, the magician did anything any logical thinker would do and made something up! "You should try to hang around him more, try to be flirtier and give hints you want him!" He exclaimed, hoping that answer would satisfy the computer-headed robot, in which it did, as he watched them get up, being thanked, and then the door shut behind them.
"Bon sang, je suis vraiment idiot, n'est-ce pas?" (Damn, I'm really stupid, aren't I?) Artful muttered to himself, facepalming, and laying back down, watching the ceiling fan above him spin endlessly.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Hey, I brought you something!" Badware held out a badge to Killdroid, one of the classic epic face. "A little yellow would look good on you, now like you don't look absolutely gorgeous anyways.~"
"[I suppose I should say "thank you", am I correct? I have never in fact been in a scenario like this.]" Killdroid responded, taking the pin and clipping it onto the hat he had always worn since taking it from the Sheriff, and glanced down at Badware. "[..Thank you.]" For a split second their voice seemed to have some sort of emotion, before going back to monotone. "[I truly would, if I could, appreciate the gift.]"
"Aww....!! You!" Badware hugged Killdroid tightly, all of a sudden. "You shouldn't say that it's just a pin!"
"[It's a good looking one, and it came from you, why shouldn't I give my gratitude?]"
Badware froze up, muttered something, then ran off, just saying "Gotta go!" as they left. Really, freezing up like this? They're supposed to be a robot, how could they have feelings like this?
"What do I do.. gahhh... I suck at flirting!" It sunk down against the staircase wall, sitting on the floor and staring down. "I should ask for more advice.. Maybe Harken could help?"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Harken heard a very soft knock at her door, and got up, opening it.
"..What do you need, friend?" Harken spoke softly, as she motioned for Badware to come in, same as Artful did before.
The robot lowered the sound of their voice and sat down on the carpet floor. "I need dating advice; I tried to flirt but failed miserably. You are a woman, you should know something about this!" They looked down, displaying a sad emoticon.
"..Maybe try to be more direct with it?"
"How do I do that?!" Badware accidently raised their voice slighter higher and looked down in frustration. "My bad."
"..There is no need to worry. I get you are upset, I can tell." Harken readjusted her position, and glanced outside for a second. "..But you need to be direct and tell him how you truly feel. Holding your true feelings back will just make it harder for you two to bond."
"Thanks." Badware stood up, again, and displayed the ">:]" emoticon. "I think I'm ready to tell him now!" They exclaimed, but a bit quieter than normal, before walking out and shutting the door softly, hurrying back to see Killdroid again, this time more confident.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Hello again my love!" Badware opened the door, as Killdroid just played the guitar they had always practiced on, completely zoned out as they sat atop the crate in the corner, not noticing the other robot.
"..Hello!"
Killdroid glanced up, setting the guitar down. "[What do you need again?]" They questioned, tilting their head. "[I was attempting to practice.]"
"I know I never admitted this and if I did already I'm sorry but I think I love you and I don't know what to do or how to express it and everyone said to just tell you straightforward so.. I love you!"
Silence. Badware glanced down in embarrassment, as Killdroid just sat there in confusion. "[Oh.]"
"[If I could feel attraction, I suppose I could say the same to you.}"
Badware paused again and then ran over and hugged Killdroid tightly. "Aww..! I'm so glad you feel that way!"
"Anyways that's all I wanted to tell you I gotta go again bye!!" Badware rushed off, in excitement, overjoyed by the response they had gotten, so much to the point they began to overheat, laying in their room and thinking about it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The 14th's night came fast- too fast. Badware sat on the roof, holding a bouquet of flowers, dandelions to be exact, and waiting for their partner. Suddenly, the door opened. Killdroid stepped through, and walked over, sitting on the edge beside them. "[It is exactly 8 on the dot, shall we continue?]"
"Yes.."
"[I have no idea what to say. But I got you this.]"
Killdroid took out a small green clip, and stuck it to Badware, presenting it like it was some type of treasure. "[I found this for you? I don't know how to describe it, but maybe it would look nice on you.]" They suggested.
"Aww.. you shouldn't have.." Badware muttered, and leaned on Killdroid, before handing them the bouquet of dandelions. "I don't know what flower you like, so I just picked these out by the lake."
"[Thanks.]"
"No problem..!"
The two sat there together, watching the stars shine brightly in the sky, and pointing out the different constellations. For once things felt normal between the two, and there weren't any attempts to destroy the other, or hack them either. Nobody spoke, but they sat together all night until both of their batteries began to get low, and they headed inside together, before returning to their own rooms.
"[I do not know how to describe it, but for some reason, I feel what humans would refer to as "joy" around them.]" Killdroid stared up at the ceiling, laying in the middle of the floor. "[That was nice.]"
(The end!)
