Portable electronic devices sometimes get hot while charging.

Typically due to poor cooling, a shoddy charging cable, or a battery defect: something to be cautious about at best, and a potential explosion at worst.

Tasuku wouldn't consider himself all that similar to a phone or a laptop, but he was definitely overheating tonight - and he wasn't even the one charging. That would be Azuma, lying on top of him with their legs entangled and his face buried in Tasuku's chest.

Aside from asking if this was a bad time - it wasn't - not much was said since Azuma's arrival at Tasuku's door.

Tasuku lay still, an arm around Azuma's shoulders, just listening to him breathe. Was he trying to contain an explosion, or was this just a little bit of excess tension melting out in Tasuku's bed?

Slowly, Azuma moved. One arm slipping off to the side, elbow catching on the mattress for support while his other hand found solid ground on Tasuku's chest, pushing down to hold himself up.

"… thank you. I needed this."

"You're welcome," Tasuku answered, looking up at Azuma's eyes as he slowly reached to hold his hand, placing his palm over Azuma's and letting their fingers intertwine over the beat of Tasuku's heart.

"I should go …" Azuma pulled away, awkwardly sitting up.

"You don't have to," Tasuku chased after him like mist after sunrise.

A twitch in the corner of Azuma's lips. A smile, delayed just enough to be questionable. An apologetic gaze that wandered off for a while before finding its way back to Tasuku.

"You're a sweetheart - you know that, right?" He offered payment for his extended stay.

"You do say it a lot," Tasuku pulled him back into his arms, no payment required.

"I mean it tonight," Azuma cuddled close.

"And other times you don't?" Tasuku meticulously tucked loose strands of silver hair back where they spilled from.

"… other times, it's open to interpretation."

"You know I'm not good with that stuff."

"Fufu … you're good with me - and I'm nothing but that stuff."

"That's not true. You are very straightforward when you need to be."

"Ah, is that so … ?"

"Well you came here."

"… and if I stayed here?"

"I would be happy with that," Tasuku kissed the top of his head before tucking them both in.

He wasn't all that similar to a phone or a laptop - but he did sometimes feel a lot like an electric car, because Azuma skidding into his room and coming to a stop against his chest was the kind of regenerative breaking that seemed to charge them both.

"Goodnight ... sweetheart."
