Chapter Text

One was staring at her. It was the most menacing stare Three had ever received. And then, she was doing something. She didn't know what, but she was doing something to her!

It felt like she was being cracked from the inside out, burning pain coursing through her body as it was shattering into bits.

She couldn't let her continue! It was going to kill her!

"One! Stop this!"

Five pushed One away, making her fall hard on the floor. Her grasp on Three loosened as she quickly redirected her anger to Five, about to give her the same treatment. But, before she could do anything, Three stepped in between them and used her meteor powers to levitate One in place.

"One! You need to stop. Now." she said with a firm voice.

Three was rarely angry, but she couldn't tolerate anybody hurting her friends.

One seemed to snap back to reality as her eyes widened. Three looked at her own hands, the cracks from earlier still being visible. If she continued, Three would have shattered. She could tell they were all thinking the same by the worried looks they gave to each other.

"I'm-... I'm!" One was out of words, still visibly angry but much more lucid than before.

Her stare was livid, like she was about to burst into flames at any moment. But Three did not let the pressure get to her, staring into the other integer's eyes with authority.

"You..! Three!!" tears of anger streamed down One's face.

Her stare was less heated, more pleading. Her legs wobbled beneath her, desperate to get back on the ground. Three hesitated for a moment, guilt manifesting at the helpless state of her friend.

But One's patience runned thin.

"Let me go!" she screeched one last time as rocks all around her started levitating.

The rocks flew straight into Three, her breath hitching at the sight. She fumbled and dropped One, concentrating her telekinesis powers to hold the rocks off instead. As Three looked back up, One was already gone, having teleported away.

She relaxed, letting out a breath she didn't know she was holding, knowing that One wasn't trying to hurt any of them anymore...

But then, her heart rate picked up as she came to the realization that One was heading to the meteor.

"Five!" Three grabbed Five by the shoulders and started shaking her.

"She is going towards the meteor! We can't let her have more power!!" she yelled in a panic, shaking Five with all her might.

"Wow- Ok! Don't need to scream at me!" Five responded in a hurry as the other algebralien continued to panic more and more.

Finally, she grabbed hold of Three's hands, taking out some bandaids to cover the cracks on her skin.

"We are going! But you have to stay here Three. You are injured." Five said. This was final.

"But what about you guys, she isn't in the right state of mind. She could hurt you!" Three exclaimed, she wasn't that hurt. She could still help them!

"Don't worry, we're all going. She could never hurt us if we all stay together! You better stay safe Three!" Seven said as he gestured for the other algebraliens to follow him.

They walked towards the forest in the direction of the mountain top, slowly disappearing under the dark shades of the tree. Three looked at them leaving.

Her body shook. Something was making her anxious but she didn't exactly know what. A part of this anxiety was from the cracks One did to her, but most of it came from something else. What was going to happen after? So many things seemed to have changed in a night, the meteor, the powers, One...

Will everything stay the same, will they recover from this?

Her mind kept thinking and wondering. It was nauseating and her head started feeling dizzy.

But as she saw the Earth's moon in the sky, she stopped thinking and admired the sight above instead.

It was shining beautifully.

Fresh cold air filled her lungs as she held her breath and for the first time tonight, she felt at peace. It was better to get some sleep right now and do all the thinking tomorrow.

She knew One didn't really mean it, or that it was some kind of misunderstanding. One was nice to her yesterday she just wasn't being herself tonight.

It will all be sorted out tomorrow. She will confront One, they will talk and they will both come to a mutual understanding. And then, everything will be back to normal!

She knew she could fix this, just not today.

The red algebralien created a bubble around herself, protecting her from the rain as she lay down on the soft grass of the equation playground. The transparent surface of the bubble gave her a beautiful view of the moon.

She swore the moon shone brighter all of a sudden but she was too tired to question it.

Her eyes closed slowly as the moon started to dim too.
