Work Text:

“Big brother, are we almost there?” Erika asks, hand in hand with Basch

“Yeah, about so, just about 5 more minutes.” He responds, looking down at a small map he's holding in his other hand.

“It's been so long since I've been to Rody's place. I hardly remember what his house looks like.”

“Why do you keep calling him that? You are doing that just to annoy me! It does not even match the correct pronunciation,!” Basch says, looking away, very obviously annoyed

“I wonder what he's going to make! I can't wait to see Elizabeta. I hardly even remember how she looks. It's been that long since I've seen her.” She adds, ignoring him.

Basch doesn't know how to respond.

“Alright, we're here,” he says, letting go of Erika's hand to knock on the fancy, large entrance doors.

No one answers, he knocks again.

Geez, I am here, you cannot wait four seconds?” Roderich answers the door.

“Oh, hello Erika, how are you?” He greets her and shakes her hand.

“Hi Roderich!! I am doing very well, what about y-” she's quickly cut off by Basch

“Are we gonna eat now, or are we just gonna stand outside talking?” he rudely interrupts.

Roderich rolls his eyes and allows them in.

“Oh my goodness, hello Erika!” Elizabeta immediately drops what she's doing and rushes over to Erika.

“Hi, Eliza!” She smiles and gives her a small side hug. Elizabeta was always like an older sister to her.

“Here, sit down, let us eat.” she pulls out a chair for herself and takes a seat.

They take a seat at the fairly sized table, which is round and white with gold detail.

Roderich serves all of them various expensive foods, and then, sits beside Elizabeta, they all start to eat.

“So! What have you guys been doing?” Elizabeta asks, trying to cut the awkward tension between them all

“Ive been sewing a lot, I made myself a uniform,” Erika replies, also trying to break the growing awkwardness

“I haven't been doing anything.” Basch admits.

“Oh, big brother has been doing things, like drawing for me, he's a great drawer!!’ Erika says

“Wow id love to see one of his drawings,” Roderich smirks at Basch

“I have one in my bag right now, I keep them for good luck,” Erika exclaims, digging through her messenger bag.

She holds a piece of white paper with a couple of drawings of the animals Erika had asked him to draw during their civil defense lesson.

“After every lesson, he draws for me!” She adds

“How impressive,” Roderich says sarcastically. Basch glances at him with an annoyed expression.

Both Roderich and Basch eat in silence for about 20 minutes.

Elizabeta and Erika talk only to each other, mainly about books they’ve been reading and dumb things that both Basch and Roderich say.

“May I be excused to the restroom?” Erika asks.

“Yeah, go ahead, be back here soon,” Basch replies.

“Let me get those for you.” Elizabeta gets up and picks up everyone's plates, then leaves.

“So you and Elizabeta are divorced?  Why does she live with you, anyway?” Basch asks immediately after Elizabeta leaves.

“Yeah, we are divorced. She doesn't live with me, but when she heard you and Erika were coming, she wanted to come over.” After that, there's a loud silence

“We are still good friends, " he adds, " she wanted time and more independence for herself, we’re still working things out,” Roderich says, making it even more awkward despite his efforts to do the opposite.

“So how's Erika?” he asks.

“Shes doing well, she made me a frilly pink pyjama set, it was cute,” Switzerland says

“Wow, did you wear it?” Roderich snickers

“It was actually comfortable.” Basch defends himself, slightly annoyed.

“That must have been a sight, a stupid one.” Now, Roderich is purposely annoying him.

“I was very grateful for that gift.” he continues to defend himself.

“I'm sure it was great, but you wearing it… it's funny,” he remarks

“You are an idiot,” he’s annoyed, and done with this conversation; he knows he shouldn't let it get to him; it didn't get to him, it was a dumb conversation, he wanted it to be over.

There's a long moment of silence; it's awkward.

“Do you still love Eliza?” Basch asks

He realizes he doesn't want to know the answer to that.

He wants to undo what he just said and somehow make him shut up.

Without even thinking, he leans in, and his lips crash into Roderich’s.

Roderich doesn't protest; he leans into it, kissing him back. Their tongues tangle with each other.

His hands are resting on Basch's shoulders, and Basch's hands are on Roderich’s hips.

Roderich breaks the kiss, a string of saliva connecting the two.

“Can w- Let's go upstairs,” Roderich says, breathing heavily.

He guessed upstairs meant Roderich's room, and Roderich’s room meant sex, which made him all the more nervous yet excited. This was new to him;It wasnt often he got excited or nervous, his life wasnt extra eventful.

“Alright, what door is it?” Basch asked, hand in hand with him. Rushing up the stairs.

“The first one to the left, it's not locked.”

“How are you so out of breath?” Basch asks, both of them almost all the way up the stairs.

“We are climbing up the stairs after making out. How are you not out of breath??” Austria defends himself.

“It was hardly a makeout, maybe a single intense kiss at most,” Basch argues.

Basch opens the door

Roderich nudges the door closed with the back of his heel. As soon as it clicks, he turns off the light and switches on a warm lamp next to the bed. Basch slightly pushes Roderich onto the bed. The space between their lips breaks, and both of their hands roam each other.

Basch hates sharing his emotions. But bottling them up just made them show when he really didn't want them to, and losing control over one of the only things he had control over really stressed him out. He couldn't take it any longer.

Roderich unbuttons Basch's uniform, Basch cups Roderich’s face with one of his hands, and looks into his eyes for a moment.

“You know, I have liked you for a long time, since we were young,” he says.

This all feels so surreal for them both.

“Please…” Roderich pleads, his slightly shaky hands attempting to unbuckle Basch's belt.

“Basch, I've always loved you…I still love you…” He replies.

He unbuttons Roderich’s coat.

Basch gets up and takes off his pants; he tosses them to the side.

His fingers hook around the waistband of Roderich’s pants, he lifts his hips so it's easier for Him to remove them.

He gets back in his position over Roderich.

“Please…Open the top drawer…grab the clear bottle.” Roderich pleads.

Basch attends to his plea and pulls the top drawer open; he grabs the bottle.

“Youve done this before. Right? You were married before,” he asks.

“Never with a man,” Roderich admits.

“Really? All this time? You literally married to a man before" Basch remarks.

Roderich looks away.

“Okay, take those off, now,” Basch with a desperate pleading tone in his voice, rather than a demanding one, his fingers tugging on the last remaining piece of fabric on Roderich, making him gasp.

“A-alright… I'm gonna do it right now…tell me what you need…or if it's too painful.”

“May I be excused to the restroom?” Erika asks.

“Yeah, go ahead, be back here soon,” Basch replies.

I forgot to ask where the restroom was

She wanders into a long hall with 6 doors. She walks past a room with a blue door, then one with a deep navy blue door, and another one with a white door. At the very end of the hall, the other side of the hall has the same number of doors.

Her best guess was the blue door. She twists the doorknob,.

It's locked.

She tries the room with a white door.

It's the one. She walks in and locks the door behind her.

                                               ~-_-_-_-_-~

Now she just needs to find her way back, which probably wouldn't take long.

She walks downstairs and finds the dining table empty.

Where did everyone go?

She walks into another hall that leads to a big piano, and she remembers sitting next to Roderich as he played music.

She walks past the huge piano, into a hallway with colorful painted vases of various sizes.

At the end of the hall is the kitchen, she sees Elizabeta

“So, what do you think of Roderich and your brother?" she asks as soon as she notices Erika.

“What do you mean?” Erika questions

“How much he hates him, yet he still decides to eat with him and come over,” Elizabeta says, then smiles widely

“Exactly! It doesn't make any sense, he says it's because he wants to save money, but I don't think so.” Erika smiles

“Then again, my brother says a lot of things that don't make sense. As much as I love him, he gets so grumpy right after he wakes up, for some reason.” Liechtenstein laughs a bit

“Roderich does the same thing sometimes! And, when he's just staring at nothing, I call his name, then I wave my hand in front of him, he turns red and gets all angry-embarassed! It's really funny, he even storms away with his newspaper like an old man!” Elizabeta laughs at just the memory of it.

“I was kind of being a snoop, looking at all the weird things Roderich has in his bathroom. I saw about a million facial products and a lot of different scents; I might've smelled a few. His taste is not that good,” Erika says

“I do remember him using them all of those . I never thought they were worth the price,” Elizabeta remarks

“Eliza, do you live here? It's very fancy.” Erika admires the design of the house

“No, not anymore. I visit sometimes, when I heard you were coming, I immediately made a dish to come over.” She replies.

Erika remembers what she was doing, looking for her older brother.

“Do you know where my big brother went?” Erika asks her

“I don't know, now that I think of it, I haven't seen them since I started washing dishes,” she responds.

After a moment, she starts to talk again

“Why don't you go snoop around? I'm sure he’s with Roderich somewhere around here,”  Elizabeta suggests.

“Alright!” Erika walks away and turns into the hallway she came from

She looks at the piano some more and walks through the hallway with 6 doors.

She opens all the doors she can and looks inside. On the other side of the hallway was the locked door, the bathroom, and the dark navy blue door.

She walks up to the door, and she presses her ear against the door, like every door she’s encountered.

She hears nothing and opens the door.

It's dim, and there's nothing but a warm-toned lamp on.

She looks at the bed, and Roderich is there.

This must be his room; maybe he’s napping.

He must've been tired

She looks for a moment longer, and she notices the hickeys on his neck.

What??...

She opened the door a little wider.

Basch is next to him, lying down and also sleeping.

She shuts the door quickly but quietly as soon as she notices her brother.

What does he have to do with this?!?

She opens the door again,

This time, Basch wakes up.

He looks shocked

“ERIKA, WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN HERE!?” Basch shouts, he sits up, and pulls the blanket up to his neck to cover up.

Roderich awakes at the sound of his voice.

He quickly sits up, also pulling the cover up to his neck, his eyes widen, and he frantically puts on his glasses

“Erika!?!” he exclaims

“Oh, I am sorry to disturb your sleep,” Erika apologizes

“There is nothing going on here…we were just sleeping…just…close the door, now…please?” Basch pleads

maybe they were really tired or maybe it was a food coma

She closes the door

She walks around the whole place until she finds herself back at the kitchen, from there she makes her way to the dining room.

“So did you find them?” Elizabeta says, putting her book down on the table

“Yes, they were in Roderich’s room taking a nap.”

“In the same bed?” Elizabeta asks

“Yes,” she says

“what they’d say?”

“They just told me, ‘Erika, what are you even doing here!’ and they were not even wearing shirts,” Erika explains

Elizabeta tries her hardest to suppress a laugh.

“Oh…wow,” she says

All of a sudden, Basch comes in,

“Erika, cmon let's go say goodbye to Eliza.” He says

“Oh! Goodbye, Elizabeta!” She gives her a quick side hug.

“Let me just say goodbye to Roderich really quickly.”  She says, walking back to the room

“No, we gotta leave, now.” Basch puts its hand out for Erika to hold onto

She grabs his hand

“Oh, don't worry, I'm sure you’ll see him at your house soon, he'd just love to go over to see you again,” Elizabeta says to Erika, smiling a bit, looking at Basch.

“Alright, bye, Eliza, “ he says, waving without looking back at her.

They leave in silence.

“What did you think of the food? I really liked the pastries,” Erika says

“I thought it was good,” he replies

“How was your nap?” She asks

“Fine…it was fine…” Basch immediately turns red

He rolls his eyes.

“Roderich said we can come back next week," Basch says

“Yay!”

Notes:

Could you tell I'm obsessed with italics lol

I hope you enjoyed our work!
comment or kudos if you can!!!!

May 18, 2026:
ok so recently I inquired Noah about what a certain part of the conversation thing with Erika and Elizabeta was about cus even I myself wasn't too sure about the intentions of it while writing, and just kinda guessed. He said it was in reference to the dreams Basch has about Roderich, implying that Roderich also has the dreams and gets distracted with contemplating them after he wakes up. I kinda assumed it was something like that anyway, but I just wanted to share that extra note and provide another perspective on that scene!
Also, your guy's comments are so nice, both Noah and I reread them daily, they keep us motivated!
