Work Text:
Sangwon munched down on his candy apple, taking a big bite out of it with a crunch. He chewed viscously, starving form an exhausting day of walking around the carnival that was in town that he hadn't really been too interested in attending. Anxin and Jiahao, however, managed to drag him along with the promise of free food—how could he say no to that?
It had been a long day, waking up at the crack of dawn—12pm—to banging at his front door, an angry Anxin yelling through it as he woke up groggily, his hair a mess, drool dried against his chin from his sleep.
"Yah! Sangwon!" the banging ensued as the angry voice spilled through the seem of the door, "I told you to be awake early! We need to get through all the rides!" Anxin's screaming was definitely going to get Sangwon some noise complaints from his neighbours. He lazily slipped out of bed, quickly hurrying towards his front door and opening it, the angry boy standing in front of him with his arms crossed, foot tapping against the floor annoyed.
"Give me five minutes, let me change. Just— wait there, or come in." Sangwon spoke a little teasingly, he didn't really give a fuck whether they were late or not. He spun on his heel and quickly rushed himself back to his bedroom before Anxin could protest, shutting the door behind him. Five minutes was in fact not how long he needed, he needed an hour at minimum so that he could do all of his skincare, makeup and carefully pick out an outfit. However, Anxin gave him the best of thirty minutes after much annoyance, before Sangwon was being dragged out of his house.
And now here he was, angrily munching on his candle apple after having spent the past 4 hours being dragged onto roller coasters that he almost threw up on, the petting zoo that smelt like shit, and a lot of fucking walking. Sangwon did not enjoy walking, unless he was doing so for a good reason; and this was not a good reason. At least his candy apple was good, and they were on their way to get some actual food anyways, he had been craving a burger all day and as per their promise he wouldn't have to spend a cent.
"Want to win a teddy bear, pretty boy?" A voice echoed out nearby where Sangwon was walking, he was mid-bite his jaw clenched tightly around the apple as he whipped his head around towards the voice. He locked eyes with one of the carnival workers, a microphone pressed up to his lips as he smirked straight at Sangwon. "You. The pretty boy with the apple, come over and play." The worker waved a hand in the air, signalling for him to come over.
"The fuck?" Sangwon stopped in his spot, Jiahao and Anxin turned around a few steps in front of him with a confused look.
"Is he talking to you, Sangwon?" Jiahao walked back over to him, peering over at the carnival worker with a raised eyebrow. Sangwon shrugged, as he finally took another bite from his apple, chewing it slowly now as they stood there staring at the worker. The worker once again, waved them over and finally getting the hint that it was in fact Sangwon who he was talking about they lazily walked towards the booth.
"Thought you'd leave me hanging!" The worker laughed, dropping the microphone from his mouth now that they were standing in front of him. Sangwon who was now finishing off the last of his apple, discarding the stick in the bin nearby was able to fully focus on the worker in front of him. The worker, who was absolutely fucking hot, and had a pretty confident mouth as well, was exactly Sangwon's type. He couldn't help himself when he took him in entirely, his eyes panning from his head to toe with a smirk on his face.
The worker, clearly caught Sangwon looking and spoke again. "Alright, pretty. Want to win a prize?" The worker winked. Sangwon nodded eagerly, already pulling out his wallet so that he could pay, eager to play whatever game the worker was offering to him. "All you have to do is pop the balloons with the darts, easy enough? You get three throws, and depending on how many balloons you pop you get a prize." The worker smiled at Sangwon, already placing down three darts in front of him. He held out the card reader, and Sangwon happily tapped his card against it to pay. "Alright, show me what you've got."
Anxin and Jiahao stood off to the side, watching Sangwon as he picked up the darts with amusement. Sangwon sucked at anything like this, he was terrible with sports—this wasn't really a sport but it was close enough. Anything that required any sort of skill, Sangwon sucked at, especially hand-eye coordination which was evident from the amount of times he had been hit in the face with a ball during his high school days. So it wasn't a surprise when Sangwon aimlessly threw the darts towards the balloons, missing them all with a huff.
"Ahhh, come on! I know you can do better than that! Why don't you try again?" The worker smiled, already picking up the missed darts before putting them back in front of Sangwon. Anxin stood beside him now, tugging at his arm and whispering something about how the games were always a scam and Sangwon wouldn't be walking away with a prize. However, Sangwon shrugged him off entirely, he did not give a fuck. The hot worker standing in front of him is all he cared about right now, and if spending a ridiculous amount of money to win a measly prize meant the worker would keep calling him pretty, then that's what he'd do.
Sangwon paid again, tapping his card against the reader and picking up the darts, the worker standing beside the board with a smile on his face as he watched Sangwon fail, again. "Come on, can't you just give me a prize! I've already spent twenty bucks on this shit." Sangwon pouted, stomping his foot slightly which earned him a laugh from the hot worker.
"No can do, pretty. Rules are rules, you gotta at least pop one!" The worker smiled, before coming up close to him and leaning in, his breath tickling Sangwon's ear that made him giggle. "If you pop one, I'll make sure to give you the grand prize." The worker stepped back, gesturing his hand towards the big giant teddy bear that was hanging from the ceiling, it was huge and Sangwon fucking wanted it. He gave a small nod, tapping the card reader again that was already prepared for him to pay. He picked up the darts once again and it turned into a cycle.
Fail, flirt, tap. Fail, flirt, tap.
Sangwon didn't realise when Jiahao and Anxin fucked off, maybe it was twenty minutes ago when Sangwon was on his—he had honestly lost count on how many rounds he had played of the bloody game but he didn't give a fuck. He was totally hitting it off with the worker, who was blatantly flirting with him which he noticed wasn't just his personality; when other people came up to play. The worker didn't call anyone else pretty, didn't even attempt to flirt with anyone but Sangwon—thank fuck.
Pop.
A loud scream erupted from Sangwon's mouth when he finally got a dart to land on one of the balloons on the wall—after spending over $100. Who gave a fuck about the money, he finally popped one and that giant teddy bear was going to be his. The worker smiled, picking up the darts from below the board and stashing them back into the pile as he moved towards the giant teddy bear; pulling it down. It was bigger than Sangwon when he finally got it handed to him, the plush flopping in his arms as it almost swallowed him. The worker laughed at Sangwon as he struggled to hold it, spinning around with it in excitement as he cuddled into it.
"Alright, pretty. One more thing." The worker smiled at him as he reached below the edge of the booth, clearly to a shelf that was underneath it. Sangwon swung the teddy bear to one side of him, peeking over it as he watched what the worker was looking for. "Your number." The worker held his phone out in front of him towards Sangwon with a grin on his face. Sangwon blushed, he hadn't actually expected that much to come out of it—even though he was hoping for it—so when he was presented with a phone he stuttered for a moment, his face flushing for the first time today.
"My arms are pretty full right now—" Sangwon spoke, somewhat muffled through the fur of the plush that was pressing against his face. He moved to his side, his bag slung over his shoulder that held his own phone inside of it. "My phone's in my bag, grab it and put your number in. I don't want to drop the bear on the phone" Sangwon smiled, stepping a little closer so that the worker was able to rummage through his bag and dig out his own phone.
The worker quickly punched his number into Sangwon's phone, saving his contact inside of it before placing the phone back in the bag. "Alright, text me. Don't ghost me." The worker winked at Sangwon, before picking up the microphone and going back to calling out to other people walking by. Sangwon skipped away, a big smile plastered on his face as he went off to find his friends—who luckily weren't that far away as they were sitting on a bench nearby watching the whole time.
"So, you got his number?" Jiahao questioned, his brow raising with a smirk. Sangwon dumped the giant teddy bear straight into Anxin's arms, almost knocking him over from where he was sitting on the bench as he yelled at in annoyance.
"Yep!" Sangwon giggled, pulling out his phone from his bag and pulling up his contact list, scrolling through to find the worker's contact. "Let's see what he saved himself as." Sangwon finally found the contact and tapped on the profile as he read it out loud. "Hot carnival worker, Leo." A squeal slipped out of his mouth as he jumped up and down on the spot.
"He seriously called himself hot?" Anxin laughed out, half muffled as he was still holding onto the giant bear.
"He's not wrong, you saw him. At least he's confident, I like that." Sangwon hissed, pulling up the message box with the person who he now knew as Leo. He quickly tapped away at his phone, typing out a quick message and hitting send without thinking for another second.
Hey, Leo. When's our date? :)
