Will You Be My Galentine?

Summary:

Sarah and Nat are so over boys this year, so they decide to be each other's Galentine's.

It's just a fun friend thing, right?

Right?!

Notes:

I've been wanting to write a Sarah/Nat for a long time now. Then @bikananjarrus on Tumblr called out our fandom for the lack of Sarah/Nat fics (thank you for that❤️)

Then all my friends decided to write some impromptu valentines fics, and I made a joke about Sarah/Nat and the next thing I know, I'm actually writing it.

So here is our long overdue Sarah/Nat. ❤️

Chapter 1: Will You Be My Galentine's?

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

“Ugh. Boys,” Sarah said as she dropped her tray on the lunch table. She stood behind her chair, staring out at the lunch room rather than joining her best friend Nat at the table. Sarah’s eyes were scanning the room, landing on each of her ex-boyfriends.

Her eighth grade fling was hitting on one of the cheerleaders, trying to find his newest girlfriend of the week just in time for that stupid, made up love-holiday.

Asshole Sean Smith was seated with the other jocks, berating his latest girlfriend.

And mopey Jordan Kent was giving her the puppy-dog eyes from all the way across the room.

She sure knew how to pick them.

“Oh… yeah… boys…” Nat said, her voice monotone as she pushed a noodle of rotini across her tray with a plastic spoon.

“You haven’t had much luck with boys this year either,” Sarah pointed out.

Nat just responded with a sigh. She hadn’t had much luck ever.

“What ever happened to that boy from the Metropolis party?”

Nat shrugged. “Never got his number.”

“Yeah, cause Insta doesn’t exist.” Sarah rolled her eyes. “Well… forget about him. We’ll find you someone else. Someone better. A better, cooler boy.”

“I don’t want a better boy.”

“Come on, he wasn’t that great. You barely knew him.”

“No, I just mean…” Nat put down the spoon and rubbed her temples. “I don’t want a boy. I just… I just want to forget this whole stupid Valentine’s Day thing. Why can’t girls just be happy alone?”

Sarah looked over the room once more. She had been happier ever since she’d broken up with Jordan. They just hadn’t been right for each other. And Sean and all the others? Even worse.

She was happier alone. Why wasn’t that enough?

“Sure, let’s cancel the whole thing. Fuck Valentine’s Day.”

Nat gave a soft smile.

“Nat,” Sarah said.

“Yeah?”

“Will you be my Galentine?”

The smile widened and Nat gave the slightest nod. “Sure, Sarah. I’ll be your Galentine.”
