Avery was your average secondary school student. Well, except the fact that he was magical. More especially, a pureblood in the Avery family, but that was not important at all.
He had found a computer in his storage locker, casted Reparo to make it as great as new, then used it daily for literally everything.
Also, he uploaded Minecraft videos. Nothing out of the ordinary.
Until there was.
For some reason, one of Avery’s videos blew up. The view count skyrocketed to more than a million, with similar comments stating “In the crossroad, don't turn left”.
Merlin, he wasn't a famous YouTuber! His previous video only had a handful of views before all of these, it was so unnatural that as if…
As if someone huge had promoted his video. But why?
Confused, Avery scrolled down the comment section aimlessly, in the slightest hope to find some sort of clue.
“I come from Wifies’ video!!”
And here it was.
*
To be frank, this Wifies guy was really entertaining. Avery thought, at least he was already hooked at the beginning of the video, though it was a bit cringe to have someone as big as him to introduce Avery, or AveryTheMayo, his YouTube channel THAT seriously.
…
Wait, he bloody hell missed that much details!? That was a code to an entire google drive, with files from the original owner of HIS computer? That was ridiculous!
…
It was starting to be creepy, but D3rlord was pretty smart, though. Such a cool person to have multiple traps against the entity, and being such observant. Only if Avery had meet him earlier…
…
Okay, Avery took a deep breath. He thought there was nothing more scary than an Avada Kedavra, but it turned out there was. That was the most horrifying scene he had ever seen in his life. What the actual hell had D3rlord seen? Avery blamed his always creative imagination, which was creating the most terrible thing in the world. The unknown was more scary than everything else, huh?
…
You know what? Avery would never open that Minecraft world file. Never. Don't touch cursed things causally, that was the first thing he learnt at his homeschooling on magic. Just don't. In fact, Avery even had an urge to abandon the computer completely. Who would have thought a Muggle technology would have such horror underneath?
Instead, he had a new goal in mind.
He wanted to find D3rlord. The cursed item was dangerous, but the affected people were safe. It interested him so much that D3rlord could somehow make a code mentioning Avery himself, while he was a person who got D3rlord’s computer in the future. Did he gain future knowledge like a Seer? Or even more, the whole universe’s knowledge?
Plus, D3rlord looked like a cool guy, didn't he?
Avery eagerly took out his wand: Wherever D3rlord was, he would find him. Magic could do anything!
*
It took longer than Avery expected, but he did it!
Standing in the middle of a random street, Avery cheered himself up. Finally! With the ultimate power of dark magic from the Avery family books and technology (which was, indeed, buses and maps), he found the current location of D3rlord.
He looked around. There were strays, homeless people lying. It seemed like he was in a poorer area in the country, huh, D3rlord was here?
Suddenly, Avery felt he was watched from the back. Alerted, he turned to see a person who seemed to notice him.
It was a man. His black hair was messy and long, probably due to the long time without proper maintenance. His clothing was also old, not cleaned in weeks, or worse, months. All these traits perfectly lined up with the image of a stray, but his eyes told the entire opposite.
His eyes were unnaturally yellow, what’s more, they were full of intelligence and knowledge. Avery almost had a feeling that the man was somehow having a superior view that he could see something else, something more than a regular human.
“So… you are a wizard.” Said the man.
Looking down to his hand, Avery embarrassedly put away his wand. Reflex action really got him, eh?
“What should I call you, Sir?” Avery coughed, then formed a polite smile, “D3rlord3? D3r? Lord? Ah, no. Not the last one – It reminds me of a certain person, nope.”
“Whatever you like,” The man – D3rlord signed indifferently, “What brings you here, Avery?”
“So you do know my name!” Avery beamed, “What happened there? Did you get all the knowledge in the world? About the past, present and future! But no – if you know all of those, you should have known I would come, and my identity!”
My identity of a pure-blood wizard, he added in his mind.
“Yes, I got all the knowledge from that. And no, I won't tell you about what happened there. Don't imagine it, and don't dare to go there. At the crossroads –”
“Don't turn left, right?” Avery grinned, “I know, and I won't even use the computer ever!”
Calm down a bit, D3rlord continued answering Avery’s questions, “I do know everything, but it will be too overwhelming if I recall all of them. I just simply don't recall them deliberately – they still popped up though.”
“Wow, that's cool, but painful though.” Avery suggested, “Need an Obliviate?”
“No, it won't work. I know.” D3rlord signed.
“Oh…”
“Back to the subject,” D3rlord looked into Avery's eyes, “what brings you here?”
“Well, I was originally thinking of just having a meeting with you, ‘cause I find you very interesting!” Avery playfully said, “But I changed my mind! I want to befriend you by literally kidnapping you into my house! Oh, the Avery mayor to be exact.”
An emotionless “What.” was the only response D3rlord could think of.
“Come on! We have plenty of time to get to know each other!” Avery laughed, “You are free, I have Minecraft videos to make. I can guarantee the videos will be much more fun to have you in them!”
“I’m THE Skyblock GOAT after all!” Avery grinned, “Deal? I will still be taking you no matter what response you make though.”
Before D3rlord could physically say anything, Avery grabbed his hand and shouted Apparition.
What a weird day, D3rlord thought to himself.
